TenZ, Kyedae announce breakup: ‘It felt like thirty years’

Popular online personalities Kyedae Shymko and Tyson “TenZ” Ngo have announced they’ve broken up. The couple, who were engaged, shared that they separated a while ago, but want their fans to know they remain supportive of each other.

Kyedae and TenZ break up: “We grew apart.”

Kyedae posted the heartbreaking announcement on her official social media accounts.

Hey everybody,

Tyson and I feel ready to share some personal news.

We’ve been separated for a while now. Towards the end, we realized – and it was hard to admit – that we’d stopped developing as people.

Throughout almost our entire relationship, we were inseparable. We worked together, shared hobbies, and generally did everything as a pair.

We often joked that even though we were together for six years, it felt like a lifetime – more like thirty years, really.

I met my partner and we basically jumped into living together just weeks later. For years, from 17 to 24, it was just us in our little bubble. But eventually, we realized we needed some room to figure things out as individuals, to grow on our own.

People are always looking for drama, but the reality is much simpler: we just drifted apart. There wasn’t any conflict, hard feelings, or one specific thing that led to this.

We continue to care for each other and truly want the best for one another. We’re also very thankful for the time we spent together and the life we built!

Thank you for respecting our privacy.

This news confirms rumors that the two have split up. The announcement included a mention of TenZ, a former professional player, who also shared it on his own page.

Let’s look at the timeline: TenZ played Counter-Strike: Global Offensive professionally from 2017 to 2020, and then switched to VALORANT from 2020 to 2024. He and his partner have been together throughout almost all of his professional gaming career, and got engaged around late 2021 or early 2022.

Kyedae then shared a picture of TenZ, suggesting they had collaborated on the announcement to ease fans’ concerns.

“Did not age well”

Even after their difficult breakup announcement, TenZ and Kyedae showed they could still joke around. TenZ replied to their original engagement post with “Literally did not age well” and a few skull emojis.

Kyedae and TenZ haven’t talked about their future career plans. Kyedae stopped streaming in early 2025, and TenZ continues to stream after leaving Sentinels and retiring from professional play.
