As a dedicated follower and admirer of Jelena Dokic, I can’t help but feel deeply moved by her heartfelt confession about love and loneliness. Her courage to share such intimate feelings is truly commendable and resonates with many who have experienced the same emotions.

Jelena Dokic shared that she’s been reluctant to pursue new romantic relationships following her separation from her long-term partner, Tin Bikic.

For nearly two decades, I’ve been walking this journey alongside an exceptional partner. However, in the year 2021, we made the difficult decision to part ways and continue our individual journeys.

41-year-old Jelena shared a poignant confession on Instagram on Thursday, admitting that despite maintaining a protective barrier, she finds herself fearful of spending the remainder of her life by herself.

‘Love… lately, it’s been a rough stretch for me personally. A topic not often discussed, but I can’t stress enough how difficult it is to navigate through the end of relationships,” she shared along with a selfie.

If you’ve found yourself feeling wounded or deserted, there’s no sugarcoating it – it can feel like your world is crumbling. As time passes and you grow older, the wounds deepen, the pain intensifies, and the scars multiply.

Four years have passed since my 19-year long relationship concluded, but despite the fact that our feelings for one another remain strong due to our shared history dating back to when we were only twenty, this phase of our lives has come to an end.

Jelena continued by expressing that she has a deep, unconditional ability to love one individual so completely that it often leads her into difficulties.

She lamented, “It becomes a mix of sorrow and physical discomfort.” She built barriers four years back and vowed that they would remain standing forever.

However, just like life often demonstrates, not every plan or thought comes to fruition. Consequently, it was inevitable that those walls came crashing down on me, causing significant harm.

So, essentially, we have two choices: Should we maintain our defenses and wait for love to approach, or should we refrain from taking the risk and not lower our barriers anymore?

As someone deeply invested in finding an answer, I’ve spent the last four years on my own and shut off from the world, yet, even today, I remain uncertain about the solution that others may have found.

The Australian tennis commentator shared that her history has left her with significant fears about being abandoned, causing her to feel perpetually lonely.

Jelena spoke about the terrible mistreatment she experienced, which came from her father and tennis coach, Damir Dokic.

The media figure openly wondered, “Could it be that I’m the one who feels anxious about never finding companionship throughout my life?

In her extensive letter, Jelena expressed that tearing down walls unexpectedly stirred emotions and reactions she hadn’t experienced before, leaving her uncertain about how to respond or take action.

‘In the end, things are difficult. Should we isolate ourselves completely, or risk more heartache to potentially experience that extraordinary, wild kind of love once more?’

Fortunately, Jelena closed her melancholic post with an optimistic sentiment, expressing that she won’t abandon her pursuit of finding love.

She declared, ‘I’ll keep pushing, and I believe those barriers will crumble once more. Perhaps the time spent waiting, feeling pain, sorrow, and frustration will prove valuable, leading me to discover a profound, extraordinary love.’

In the wake of her separation from her long-term partner Tin Bikic in 2021, Jelena openly expressed the deep sorrow that had left her brokenhearted, as she shared last year.

Last August, she shared some thoughtful thoughts on Instagram to commemorate the anniversary of their separation.

‘Break ups of any kind are tough. They are heartbreaking, crushing, shattering and can change you forever,’ she wrote.

Avoid letting anger and bitterness consume you; remember that the scratches and hurts you feel now will eventually heal, making you a more knowledgeable, improved, and resilient individual in time.

The end of our relationship had a profound impact on me, reshaping me deeply. Despite the pieces of my heart being scattered and this transformation being permanent, I navigated through it all with compassion, wisdom, poise, and respect.

‘No screaming, anger or bitterness. And for that I am so proud of myself. Stay kind and positive.’

In January 2022, Jelena made it official through an emotional Instagram post that she and her boyfriend, who hails from Brazil, had ended their relationship.

Next to a split photo of us after nearly 19 years, she penned: ‘Tin and I are parting after 19 years as a couple.’

‘Sometimes these things happen, people grow apart and it’s for the best.’

At the time, Jelena admitted she was struggling emotionally and mentally with the split.

She admitted that she wasn’t doing great, but vowed to pour everything into healing, dealing with her pain, and overcoming the trauma.

Afterward, she expressed gratitude towards her fans, friends, and family for their unwavering support. She expressed optimism about returning, hopefully more robust than before, and finding herself in a far superior position.

Originally ranked fourth in the world, she was born in a region that used to be known as Yugoslavia. When she was eleven, her family immigrated to Australia.

Her tennis achievements reached their zenith when she advanced to the Wimbledon quarterfinals in 1999 and the semifinals in 2000, culminating with her quarterfinal appearance at the 2002 French Open.
