Tell Me Lies season 2 episode 5 is mostly frightful, and it’s not because it’s Halloween (Review)
As a gamer with a penchant for dark dramas and a soft spot for complex characters, I found myself drawn into the tumultuous world of “Tell Me Lies” once again. This show is like a rollercoaster ride that never seems to lose its thrill – or its toxicity.
Every time Lucy experiences a brief respite from the turmoil surrounding Stephen DeMarco, it seems another controversy arises due to this manipulative and deceitful man. In “Tell Me Lies” season 2 episode 5, titled “Evil, Ornery, Scandalous, and Evil,” Lucy and Stephen find themselves at odds once more in a struggle that never ends. Goodness gracious! The audacity of this individual. Let’s delve into the review, but beware of potential spoilers.
Initially, let me clarify that I’m referring to Lydia. Frankly, she can be quite bothersome at times. Despite her intentions of supporting Lucy and confronting Stephen at the Halloween party, given that Lucy has shared all about him with her, it seems he truly needs a reprimand. However, when your friend asks you not to act or speak, it’s essential to honor their request. Unfortunately, Lydia persists in voicing her opinions.
Stephen’s sibling, Sadie, is attending Baird College as well, and she’s a dear soul, but regrettably, she doesn’t truly understand her brother’s true nature. For instance, it wasn’t wise for her to approach Lydia and Lucy. If you believe your brother is a fine individual, it would be better to keep that thought to yourself. Each person should stick to their own path. Sadie unintentionally triggered a conflict between Lucy and Stephen that wouldn’t have occurred had the two not intervened.
Lucy’s anger is justified when she discovers that Stephen accused her of stalking him following their split. Furthermore, when he attempts to intervene between her and Lydia, Lucy retaliates by forwarding the disrespectful voicmail he left for her directly to his sister, Sadie. Unfortunately, Sadie isn’t pleased with how Stephen spoke to Lucy and finds it reminiscent of their toxic mother. It seems that Stephen has inherited some of those unhealthy tendencies. Nevertheless, Lucy, you have every right to stand up for yourself in such situations! At times, self-defense is necessary.
Before Lydia departs, there’s a matter concerning her sibling, Chris, that requires her attention. A fellow student at Baird has alerted her sorority about him spiking drinks and attempting to seduce girls. Frankly, I can understand why Lydia might be skeptical, given our close relationship with Chris. However, it’s important to acknowledge that an incident similar to one involving Pippa may have occurred, which could explain why this girl is speaking out. Regardless, I have a feeling that this issue will resurface in the upcoming season, regardless of Lydia’s initial stance.
It appears that Bree and Oliver are involved in a situation that’s utterly inappropriate. The fact that this has become more apparent lately is concerning. To clarify, Bree isn’t old enough to drink legally. Furthermore, it’s troubling when he suggests she doesn’t need to remove pubic hair because it makes her seem younger. Really? Don’t you remember? She’s significantly younger than you. It’s obvious, right? This relationship needs to terminate immediately.
To put it simply, I found “Tell Me Lies” season 2 episode 5 to be rather underwhelming for the most part. There were some intriguing moments between Lucy and Stephen, as well as the tension between Lucy and Lydia. However, I’m hoping the show tackles the Chris situation sensitively, as such issues are unfortunately common and require careful handling. Regrettably, the Bree and Oliver storyline didn’t engage me this time around. In summary, I would rate this episode a C.
Tell Me Lies season 2 releases new episodes Wednesdays on Hulu.
