Tell Me Lies season 2 episode 2 review: The web of lies runs even deeper

In the second season premiere of “Tell Me Lie” on Hulu, not only was there one episode but two, both setting up a solid foundation for the storylines to unfold in this season. The title of the episode, “I Shall Now Perform a 180 Flip-Flop,” is particularly applicable to the character Bree, and we can expect more developments from her in this season, including episode 2. Here is a summary of the spoilers for this episode, with further details to follow in future reviews

“Regardless of their past personal relationship, it appears that there may have been some form of inappropriate contact or interaction between Professor Oliver and Bree during this school year. This needs to be addressed by the school administration to ensure a safe learning environment for all students.”

The friendship between Evan and Bree started off on a rocky note when they had disagreements over the earrings Evan got for Bree’s birthday party. However, their friendship has now taken an unusual turn, as Bree feels that someone is listening to what she says and finding comfort in talking with him. This could potentially be damaging to her relationship with Evan, if it were to get out to the public

Dear [Friend],

This is when Bree follows Oliver in search of solace, and beyond. Frankly speaking, I don’t endorse this connection. Yet, they somehow managed to make their affectionate pecks on cheeks and foreheads so captivating. They possess a chemistry that surpasses Lucy and Leo. Apologies not required. We’ll delve into this matter shortly

Here’s another way of expressing it: Once more, it seems like an unsuitable action. Yet, I suspect we can comprehend Bree’s reckless decisions. For instance, when she lies to Evan about having slept with someone, despite the fact that she didn’t, just to gauge his response. Following her deception with Evan… He certainly did not handle it gracefully. Frankly, I’m at a loss as to how these two can move forward and are planning to marry, given the circumstances ahead. This situation is chaotic

In this article, or episode recap, it ends with “Bree and Oliver are getting closer” – implying that their relationship is developing further in the storyline of the show. This phrase can be used to describe the progression of Bree and Officer Oliver’s relationship without explicitly saying ‘kissing’

Once more, Stephen seems to act in a way that’s reminiscent of a manipulative individual. He deliberately annoys Lucy by seeking help from her teaching assistant, knowing full well it will upset her. Really, give her some space, buddy. Can someone please intervene and put a stop to his annoying antics?

In a tense instant, Diana encounters Pippa without any clothes on, suggesting that she might have been under the influence of drugs, allegedly administered by Chris, Lydia’s younger sibling. Diana earns praise in this situation for her composure and swift action, as she assists Pippa and manages to locate Lucy, even though there’s tension between them. This Chris character is currently giving off some suspicious vibes

In the second episode of season 2 for “Tell Me Lies,” it’s evident that this tight-knit circle of friends keeps entangling themselves further in their tangled web of deception, and there seems to be an intricate connection between them all. I found myself captivated by the second episode, as the storylines are progressing swiftly. While the characters might not always make the wisest decisions, that’s part of what makes them compelling. The episode continues to lay the groundwork for future lies and leaves me curious about the consequences they’ll face as a result. Episode rating: B.

Tell Me Lies season 2 streams new episodes Wednesdays on Hulu.
