In Season 3 of Tell Me Lies, Molly reappeared after leaving the show unexpectedly in the previous season due to Evan’s actions. The Hulu series initially presented Molly as a friend of Diana’s in Season 2, but she later became deeply involved with Evan following his split from Bree.

Who Is Molly in Tell Me Lies? Her Relationship With Evan & Bree Explained

In Season 2, Episode 4 of Tell Me Lies, we learn that Molly has been in love with Evan since they were sophomores. She held back from pursuing him while he was with Bree, but once they split up, she decided to see if he might be interested in dating her.

Evan and Molly had a complicated situation. He considered their relationship a casual one, but Molly hoped for something more and tried to get closer to him. However, Evan was still hung up on his ex-girlfriend, Bree, and couldn’t fully commit to anything new.

Because of this, Evan’s connection with Molly felt like an afterthought, which was especially sad considering Molly likely had real feelings for him.

The latest episode of Tell Me Lies, Season 2, Episode 6, dealt a major blow to Evan and Molly’s relationship. During Thanksgiving dinner, with Bree also there, Molly realized Evan consistently puts others before her. The breaking point came during a game of Slap or Shot when Evan refused to slap Bree as instructed, leading Molly to slap him and walk away.

I was honestly shocked when Molly showed up again in Season 3 of Tell Me Lies – especially to find out she and Evan were back together! It was the last we’d seen of her at the end of Season 2, so it was a real surprise, and definitely a twist I didn’t see coming.

Tell Me Lies Season 3 Is Making a Huge Mistake by Repeating Evan & Molly’s Dynamic 

The show Tell Me Lies has already revealed that Evan and Bree will ultimately end up together. Flash forwards in Season 3, Episode 3 showed their wedding, confirming their future as a couple. This also means Evan’s relationship with Molly is never going to work out long-term.

Despite the show jumping ahead in time, Evan and Bree haven’t reconciled. Surprisingly, Evan is now dating Molly, though he’s told Wrigley it’s just a casual relationship. However, Molly clearly had strong feelings for Evan in the previous season, and this could lead to more emotional drama. Wrigley even worries Evan might get hurt again – potentially even physically, like the time he was slapped – because he still seems hung up on Bree.

Bringing Evan and Molly back together could repeat the damaging patterns that hurt them both last season. It’s complicated by the fact that Evan consistently showed he cared more about Bree, and would have abandoned Molly without hesitation, as seen in Episode 3. This made it clear he didn’t value Molly, which felt unsettling and wrong.
