As a seasoned cinephile with a penchant for unconventional filmmaking techniques, I find myself utterly intrigued by the audacious decision to shoot 28 Years Later entirely on iPhone 15s. Having witnessed the evolution of cinema from reel-to-reel projectors to digital cinematography, this news is nothing short of groundbreaking.

In the recently unveiled 28 Years Later trailer, broadcast on Tuesday, the Teletubbies reappeared for an unexpected comeback on television.

Supporters of Danny Boyle’s recent post-apocalyptic horror flick applauded the director for incorporating brief scenes from the iconically eerie British kids’ program.

In June 2025, the third film of the series will premiere in movie theaters, featuring actors such as Cillian Murphy, Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Fiennes, and Jack O’Connell.

Offering a sneak peek into the upcoming horror sequel, a cluster of kids can be spotted enjoying the Teletubbies television show, but soon events start to deteriorate ominously.

A final clip shows blood splattered across the TV with fans hailing the trailer ‘promising’ and ‘peak British.’

They told X: ‘At last, a team who realizes how eerie Teletubbies can be’; ‘I can’t shake off the image of bloody Teletubbies. What an intriguing trailer!’; ‘The trailer for #28YearsLater featuring those blasted Teletubbies is the epitome of British humor – I am thrilled about this film!’

Viewers commented: ‘What an iconic trailer! The Teletubbies at the start made it adorable and amusing, but the gradually building horror with that repeated sound was chilling. Brilliant, masterful, 10/10 – they don’t make trailers like this anymore! #28YearsLater looks promising!!’

The image of blood spraying onto a screen showing Teletubbies was quite startling;

If a scene in this movie features the Teletubbies being overrun by zombies, it would undoubtedly be a contender for the Best Picture award. Personally, I’d prefer if Po survived, but Tinky Winky (Dipsy) and Laa-Laa could be written off as casualties in such an extraordinary scenario.

In a new take, the initial movie titled “28 Days Later” showcases Cillian Murphy, portraying a bike messenger, who regains consciousness after being in a coma, only to find out that an unintentional leak of a virulent, rage-fueling pathogen has led to societal collapse.

In the cast, we find Naomie Harris, Christopher Eccleston, Megan Burns, and Brendan Gleeson playing secondary characters.

The film 28 Years Later is the sequel to 2002’s 28 Days Later and 2007’s 28 Weeks Later.

A follow-up titled “28 Years Later Part II: The Bone Temple” has been greenlit, with Nia DaCosta set to take the helm.

Last month, fans were stunned to discover that the 2025 blockbuster was filmed on an iPhone – the biggest movie to ever do so.

Instead of utilizing cameras primarily from ARRI Group, as is common in many films, director Danny Boyle opted for a unique approach for the first ’28’ movie in eighteen years, choosing equipment not typically associated with the German manufacturer.

28 Years Later wrapped up filming this past summer, an exciting development I’ve been eagerly following. Interestingly, the main shooting was done using a swarm of modified iPhone 15 models, as per Wired’s recent update.

28 Years Later, a movie produced on a $75 million budget, is the largest production ever filmed using an iPhone and is reminiscent of a fresh Apple TV series.

28 Days Later marked a significant shift in the zombie genre by introducing swift, agile undead characters instead of the traditional slow and lumbering ones.

28 days, weeks, and years post the initial spread of a lethal virus in London, everyone becomes infected and transforms into ravenous assassins, as depicted in these films.

In the role of the cinematographer for the film “28 Years Later,” we find Anthony Dod Mantle. He and Danny were recipients of an Oscar in 2009, jointly recognized for their outstanding work on “Slumdog Millionaire.

In addition to working as the cinematographer for “28 Days Later,” Anthony was also involved in the filming of “127 Hours” (2010), “Trance” (2013), and “T2 Trainspotting” (2017), which were directed by Danny.

Filming for the movie “28 Years Later” concluded in late August, and it has only recently been revealed that the entire production was done using smartphones. To keep this unique aspect under wraps, the film’s crew were required to sign non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) to prevent any leaks about this detail.
