Tekken 8 Rank Distribution (July 2025): Where do you rank?

In July 2025, let’s examine the distribution of ranks in Tekken 8 following the release of update 2.03.1 and the introduction of the new DLC character, Fakhurham. What position have you achieved?

Let’s examine the global Tekken 8 Rank Distribution following the launch of version 2.03.1 and the introduction of the new character Fakhurham in July 2025. This analysis will show your worldwide standing, along with the most and least popular picks and win rates among the 38 characters.

Tekken 8 Rank Distribution (version 2.3.1)

During Season 1, there was a significant change in the distribution of ranks for Tekken 8 players. But, since the release of version 2.03.1 in July 2025, things seem to have settled down in Season 2, with the rank distribution remaining relatively stable.

In Tekken 8, it’s frequently found that the top-tier character is Fujin, occupying the initial blue rank, and accounting for 12% of all players. After updates to the ranked matchmaking system in Season 2, Fujin is the first rank where no extra rewards are given for winning streaks, which makes it a challenging level to surpass. (Discover more about Tekken 8 Ranks)

In summary, approximately 38% of players are found within the four Blue ranks (Fujin, Raijin, Kishin, Bushin), while considering their primary characters. When including all characters, the Blue rank still accounts for about 33% of the total player base. The data excludes side picks to prevent potential distortion.

Maintaining your current Intermediate Rank is where you stand now. Achieving Blue Rank 4 (Bushin) will place you among the top 20% of all players, but breaking through to Gold ranks moves you into the elite group of just 5-10% of all players.

Or in a more conversational tone:

You’re currently at an Intermediate level. To enter the top 20% of all players, you need to reach Blue Rank 4 (Bushin). But if you want to join the ranks of only 5-10% of players, you should aim for the Gold ranks.

What does my Tekken 8 rank mean?

If you’re trying to work out where your rank sits in terms of skill, this is a rough breakdown:

  • Brown to Red – Beginner
  • Purple Rank – Novice
  • Blue Rank – Intermediate
  • Gold Rank – Advanced

Note: The selection of your character may influence the pace at which you ascend the rankings. Opting for a widely-used character like Jin, Kazuya, or Bryan might mean that your opponents have encountered them more frequently, reducing the effectiveness of knowledge checks since they are already familiar with these characters.

Instead of choosing popular characters like Ryu or Chun-Li, opt for lesser-known ones such as Zafina, Panda, or Claudio. This can provide an advantage because fewer players will be acquainted with their move sets and combos. If you’re struggling, try playing a character that typically gives you trouble to improve your understanding of the match-up.

Version 2.3.1: Fakhurham popularity and win rate

In the thrilling update of version 2.03.1, I, a passionate gamer, was excitedly introduced as the second DLC character of Season 2! As anticipated for a fresh face, my win-rate has been boosted, but it’s expected to level out as players get more familiar with facing me. After two action-packed weeks in version 2.03.1, I’m proudly sitting at a 55.5% win rate! The nearest character is Panda, who manages a 52.4% win rate, but remains the least chosen character across the entire roster.

There’s no need to fear Fakhurham excessively. When Clive was launched in winter 2024, he boasted a 55% win rate and was the top choice among players. However, in version 2.03.1 (July 2025), his win rate has decreased to 49.5%, making him one of the eight least frequently chosen characters.

Apart from the fresh character Fakhurham, Lars stands alone as the figure who consistently ranks within the top 20 in terms of popularity (pick rate), all while boasting a substantial victory rate.

Before the start of Season 2, Lars was considered a moderately to lower-ranked character. But with enhancements made to his frame rate, heat, and homing abilities in Season 2, he gained more recognition and higher win rates among players. It’s unfortunate that he can be quite challenging to face off against…

Character Win rates

To sum up, here’s a breakdown of Character Win Percentages. Notably, Reina holds the least successful win rate among all characters at 47.7%, even though she is the ninth most frequently selected character. Similarly, King and Kazuya, who are in the top three most chosen characters, also have win rates below 50%. These two figures are renowned characters, but their high execution demands make them challenging to master.

In version 2.03.1, there was a significant shift in win rates between Zafina and Anna, causing both of them to move out of the top 10 ranks. Specifically, Zafina’s win rate decreased by 1.5% which dropped her from the second position down to number 11.

Make sure to drop by next month to find out about the updates in Tekken 8 Rank Distribution. I’m crossing my fingers that by then, we’ll have some exciting news on the next downloadable character!
