TEKKEN 8 Master event Punishment 3: A showcase for Arslan Ash

As a seasoned TEKKEN fan with years of gaming under my belt, I can’t hide my excitement for Punishment 3! The tournament is a rare opportunity to witness the Evo 2024 champion Arslan Ash strut his stuff on the virtual stage. This event holds special significance as it’s one of the final Master TWT qualifiers before the Finals, and with Arslan Ash already securing his spot, it’s all about the points now.

Several notable competitors have signed up for the upcoming tournament in Bolivia, among them being the future Evo 2024 champion. At present, it’s quite uncommon to witness Arslan Ash competing in events like this one

As a devoted TEKKEN fan, I’m feeling the heat as we approach the final two TEKKEN World Tour Master events. For others in the community, these remaining tournaments could be make-or-break moments to secure standing points. However, some elite players have already earned their spots at the TWT Finals and can take a well-deserved break, knowing they’ve made it. Among them is none other than Arslan Ash, who’s proven himself as one of the best in the game

During this current season, Arslan Ash has only attended a few tournaments. Among his impressive international showings are Combo Breaker, DreamHack Dallas, OTB, and Evo. Unfortunately, at the Esports World Cup, he encountered controller problems that hindered him from displaying his full potential. However, on September 7th, Arslan Ash participates in Punishment 3, despite being ranked second on the TWT 2024 leaderboard

Here you’ll find all the details regarding the tournament: the live broadcast, timetiquette, some insights into other leading competitors, and ultimately, the final outcomes

The gaming event occurs in Bolivia on September 7. The TEKKEN 8 matches commence at 10 a.m. local time (BOT), which aligns with the US East Coast time zone (ET). This means it’s 7 a.m. for the US West Coast, and 4 p.m. for Central and Western Europe

It’s going to be a long day full of TEKKEN, as the participants should compete in four stages:

  • Eight pools
  • Top 32
  • Top 16
  • Top 8

Top players to watch out for

A multitude of formidable local contenders have signed up for Punishment 3, and they’ll be squaring off against some of the top-tier TEKKEN players worldwide. However, Arslan Ash, the tournament’s most notable figureheadlining at Punishment 8 Evo 2024 champion, but he is not the only one heading to Bolivia for the World Tour Master event

TWT competition: reaching the top 20

Although many leading contenders currently aren’t focusing on accumulating points, the lower part of the qualifying threshold remains at risk and it’s important for them to improve their standings. Many U.S. players are motivated to work towards this goal, or aim to break into the top 20

  • Shadow 20z performed well at Emirates Showdown 2024, so he is 15th on the leaderboard before Punishment 3.
  • Fear of Silence is 18th, and his position is threatened by quite a few other competitors, with very close numbers of standing points.
  • KingReyJr is currently out of the top 20, but he needs only 35 points to be within the qualification limit. Finishing in the top 8 at TEKKEN 8 Punishment 3 will be quite a boost (places 7-8 bring 150 points).
  • ty has a bigger gap to the top 20. The player has 540 points, and he is 45th. But the victory here brings 560 points, and it may be enough for qualifying. Place 2 is 400 points.

Eight competitors from different areas find themselves in a comparable predicament. Achieving a high ranking in this tournament would help them surpass the current top 20 threshold, which stands at 975 points or more at present

  • Yagami from Australia has 890 points, and he is 23rd.
  • Farzeen from Pakistan is 24th, with 855 points.
  • Noel is a Bolivian player, and he has 820 points and place 25.
  • Tibetano travels from Spain to get more than the current 680 points and finish the TEKKEN World Tour 2024 higher than place 32.

As a gamer, I find Punishment 3 to be an excellent opportunity since the top-tier players from Korea, Japan, and Europe are absent. However, claiming victory isn’t going to be a walk in the park. It seems like Arslan Ash is gunning for this win, making the competition even more intense!
