TEKKEN 8 gets big battle updates in Season 2 – Zafina rework, axis calibration

Big changes are headed to TEKKEN 8 with Season 2.

During the TEKKEN TALK LIVE event, we were given a sneak peek into what’s coming for Season 2 of TEKKEN 8, focusing mainly on battle and Heat System enhancements. Some significant modifications are on the horizon, so be sure to review all updates carefully before they officially launch.

Battle Changes in TEKKEN 8 Season 2

On April 1, 2025, TEKKEN 8’s second season officially begins! In this update, you’ll find a fresh addition to our roster: Anna Williams.

New Practice Stage

A larger Practice Arena is being introduced, providing ample room for perfecting your combos. This expansive stage allows seamless transitions between areas during Practice Battles.

By customizing your training, you have the freedom to pick from different Punishment Settings according to your opponent’s moves, making it easier for you to simulate those specific scenarios. Additionally, you can opt for diverse actions following a Ukemi (the technique of breaking a fall), such as dashes, jumps, or crouches, enhancing the realism of your practice sessions.

Battle Adjustments

From now on, following a Ki Charge, your subsequent attack won’t be a counter-strike anymore, instead, the power behind it has been boosted!

In Season 1 of the game, characters missing their attacks when stepping out of the center line was a common occurrence, particularly with Jun and Lidia. The developers at TEKKEN TALK LIVE emphasized this issue. With the arrival of TEKKEN 8 Season 2, they’ve introduced changes to ensure your hits are more consistent and help you successfully land combos by having characters automatically adjust or recalibrate. This feature can be disabled in the settings, but if a character is significantly off-center, the recalibration won’t take place and will continue to behave as it did before. According to Nakatsu, this update aims to make the game more accessible for players.

During battles, you’ll see the version number displayed alongside the timer. You can also choose to hide it by adjusting your settings if desired.

Fighter changes

In the game, the combination of Power Crush and Heat Engager as a single move is no longer available and will instead be known as just Power Crush. This alteration affects all characters originally equipped with this combo. Furthermore, every character will now sustain damage that can be recovered upon exiting a Throw.

According to the team, the following characters changed the most.

Azucena

Enhancing Libertador’s power is the primary focus of her modifications. Now, she offers additional possibilities for transformation and will receive fresh mid-range and low-level attacks. Rest assured, while these changes are gradual, failing to interfere can lead to severe consequences.

Devil Jin

Devil Jin will receive a fresh series of combos and strikes. Notably, his leap triggered by f+3 now has the ability to transform into an unblockable overhead attack. This move can be seamlessly incorporated into combinations or used to swiftly bridge the distance between you and your opponent.

In addition, while in the Heat State, he’s receiving an enhancement. During the Heat State, he acquires a fresh move following Hell Sweep, which seamlessly transitions into a combination.

Jun

In simpler terms, when Jun is in the “Heat State”, she’s finding an improved method to launch attacks against enemies. Her previous Heat Smash move is now just one of several moves she can use while in Heat. Instead, she will utilize a timer. Near the timer, there’s a counter that grants her access to a potent technique.

Once the counter hits its maximum, the icon will light up, granting you the ability to use three powerful moves. This feature operates independently of the Heat mechanism.

Zafina

As a gamer, I noticed Zafina underwent the most transformation among all characters in the roster. Her overhaul primarily revolves around harnessing Azazel’s power in fresh and innovative ways. She’s acquired new moves that stretch quite far, but they come at the cost of depleting her own health bar. Some of her punches also now extend further than before. The timing and execution of some of her other moves have been adjusted to make them less vulnerable to retaliation.

She now has numerous fresh choices in her move set! Remember to explore these new options once TEKKEN 8 Season 2 and its major combat updates are released on April 1, 2025.

King

The changes being made to King will make him less powerful. Now, he takes 10 extra frames to perform an action and no longer has damage reduction. However, to compensate, he’s gaining a new attack. After performing Jaguar Sprint, he’ll emit a glow for a while, enabling him to use enhanced moves. Remarkably, being in the Heat State eliminates the need for a sprint duration to activate these enhanced moves, and his moves will always be at an enhanced level.

In the heat of the game, his throws will home in on targets. Although these modifications alter the way King is played, they also provide a more immersive “pro wrestling” feel, offering numerous options following the throw of an opponent against a wall.

Yoshimitsu

His capabilities were reduced in significant aspects: he deals less damage with his sword, recovers less health when using it, and takes longer to recover from the Flash move.

He’s receiving additional choices for moves and shifts, yet each one carries a penalty. With fewer healing opportunities, he becomes a less aggravating adversary to face off against.

Jin

In order to diminish Jin’s strength, many of his attacks have been made less potent, achieved by extending their recovery times and removing certain combinations. However, he will acquire new moves as well, with a few coming from Zanshin.
