Dylan Sprayberry, known for his role in Teen Wolf, and his wife, Prunette Karl, recently had a baby. This comes about ten months after their wedding in Oregon.
The 28-year-old new father, who recently announced he’s joined the Church of Scientology, shared the joyful news on Instagram with an adorable picture of his baby holding onto his delicate shirt.
‘As written,’ Sprayberry wrote in the caption, adding the hashtag: ‘Long Live Sprayberry.’
I was so excited to see that my favorite actor – he’s incredibly talented as both an actor and a musician, seriously! – announced they’re expecting a baby. He shared the news in a really sweet video from July 4th; you could totally tell his wife was far along because of her adorable baby bump while she was giving him a haircut. It was such a cute way to let everyone know!
He shared a video with the caption ‘Something in the way,’ and tagged it with #Nirvana. He also mentioned being with his wife while getting a haircut (‘in the clippers’).
Sprayberry announced she was expecting a baby on Father’s Day, sharing a sweet card with her partner. The card featured a picture of a little one and the message, ‘See you soon!’
A guest shared on Instagram that the couple, who had a stunning wedding on an Oregon estate in September 2025, are expecting a baby.
Karl looked striking in an apple-green dress with a coordinating wreath in her long red hair. Sprayberry opted for a more casual look, wearing black jeans, a rust-colored shirt with rolled-up sleeves, and a vest.
Earlier this month, Sprayberry revealed he had joined the Church of Scientology following his recovery from addiction.
He shared that he’s been a Scientologist for three years and described it as an incredibly positive and impactful experience.
The actor, who has been sober for about five years, explained that he started using Scientology hoping it would help with his anxiety and depression. He believes these mental health struggles were the reason he began using drugs and alcohol to cope.
‘I was a chronic drug user for about 10 years. Around 23 is when I first got sober,’ he said.
Around two years into his sobriety, he realized the anxiety and depression hadn’t actually gone away – they were just hidden beneath the surface of addiction. He explained that facing these feelings directly was a difficult part of recovery.
Sprayberry described the process, called ‘Purification,’ that he experienced after becoming a member of the Church of Scientology.
I met some incredible people who practice Scientology, and one of the very first things they do – when beginning their training – is a process known as the ‘purification rundown’, he explained.
The purification process is exactly what you’d expect – a detox to thoroughly remove drugs and toxins from your system. I tried it and really enjoyed it! As someone who’s very active, combining the detox with running and sweating in a sauna felt fantastic.
I’ve really focused on personal growth lately, and one thing that’s been surprisingly impactful for me is a book called The Way to Happiness by L. Ron Hubbard. It’s a bit unexpected, as Hubbard is known for science fiction and founding Scientology, but the book’s principles have genuinely resonated with my own spiritual path.
He explained that his depression and anxiety stemmed from not prioritizing his own happiness and well-being.
I realized my own thoughts, feelings, and actions were actually causing my depression and anxiety. Reading that book made me understand how much control I had over my mental state.
It’s about more than just thoughts; it involves living truthfully, staying healthy, avoiding harmful substances, respecting your family, and accepting others’ beliefs.
Sprayberry ended his promotional message by mentioning Scientology and encouraging his followers to check out a book by L. Ron Hubbard, with a link to it in his Instagram profile.
The actor’s announcement sparked varied responses. While some fans disapproved of his newfound faith, others praised him for achieving sobriety and appearing to have found happiness and tranquility.
‘I think a therapist would’ve been the better option,’ one person commented.
Someone else wrote, ‘I’m really happy you’re sober, but I’m disappointed to hear you got involved with Scientology.’
Someone else commented, saying they were thrilled to hear the story and see such positive progress. They shared that ‘The Way to Happiness’ had a similar impact on their life, helping them find a wonderful partner and learn to be happy on their own.
Someone commented, “This is truly beautiful! Thank you for sharing your story. I’m thrilled to see you thriving and have found something that makes you happy. It’s so important to respect all beliefs, and we should all be celebrating your happiness and success.”
Although fewer Hollywood celebrities practice Scientology now compared to the past, some well-known figures still adhere to its beliefs.
Okay, so everyone knows about Tom Cruise and John Travolta being in Scientology for ages, but did you know Elisabeth Moss from Mad Men is a big part of it too? I’ve been following her career for years, and it’s just… fascinating to learn she’s dedicated to the same beliefs as those guys. It really makes you look at her performances in a whole new light, honestly. I’m obsessed with finding out everything about the people involved!
