Teen Mom: The Next Chapter: Briana DeJesus cries to producer after sister Brittany and mother Roxanne hurl insults and expletives during therapy
As I reflect upon the lives of these young parents, I can’t help but feel a deep sense of empathy and admiration for their resilience. Each one of them is navigating the complexities of parenthood at an age when many are still figuring out their own paths in life.
During Thursday’s episode of “Teen Mom: The Next Chapter” on MTV, Briana DeJesus broke down in tears to a producer following an argument between her sister Brittany and mother Roxanne during their therapy session.
In the second season’s episode named “A Toxic Triangle,” the 30-year-old TV personality was entangled among her elder sister Brittany (age 32) and their mother Roxanne, who was receiving treatment for addiction problems in a rehabilitation facility.
Initially in the show, Briana held a positive outlook towards Roxanne’s advancement during her stay at the rehabilitation center for substance abuse.
She shared with the other mothers during a group call that her mother had been residing in a treatment facility for roughly three weeks, and they were able to communicate just once a week.
Every conversation with her seems to make her sound even more improved, and all the responses have been extremely encouraging. It’s heartening to see that she’s treating the rehab center with gravity and is receiving the assistance she requires for her well-being, according to Briana.
The group call was interrupted by Roxanne calling Briana.
Roxanne shared some surprising news with you: she completed her detox today, a fact you might find hard to believe.
Briana was taken aback, and Roxanne confessed that she too was stunned, as she believed she still had another fortnight ahead.
‘Do you feel better?,’ Briana asked.
Roxanne remarked, “I’m so tired because I haven’t had a single night of sleep this week, but it’s alright, I’ll catch some z’s sooner or later.”
Roxanne shared that she felt hopeful, and then she expressed her affection for Briana before wrapping up their chat.
Briana immediately called Brittany and told her that Roxanne ‘sounds absolutely amazing’.
They concluded that it was necessary for everyone to participate in a therapy session before Roxanne could return home.
Later on, Briana shared with her friends that she had gotten a message from her mom’s therapist, who intended to reach out to her by phone.
Briana stated, “She implied to me that my mother isn’t in great health, which confuses me since I believed things have been fine. Hearing this information is causing me stress.”
The therapist called and shared that Roxanne was skipping group sessions and not doing anything.
‘Wow. She’s been lying to us for so long,’ Briana said.
Brittany visited Briana’s home for a virtual counseling meeting with their mom, aiming to discuss the current issues at hand.
Briana asked her sister if she was ready for the session.
Absolutely. Let me rephrase that for a more conversational tone: “Indeed, Brittany doesn’t feel good about her. She finds her untrustworthy because she seemed to be fine on the phone with you when, in reality, Brittany believes she was lying.”
Briana said she wanted to ask Roxanne to explain what was really going on.
‘I’m gonna tell her, you bring me no peace,’ Brittany said.
The therapy session was not shown, but Brittany was seen 10 minutes later storming out.
Brittany, as she walked away from the meeting, asserted, “Your opinion means nothing to me, Roxanne. Frankly, I believe you’ve always fallen short as a parent. To be frank, you seem more self-centered than caring, Mom.”
In the kitchen, Vicky conversed with Brittany who mentioned that she had shared her feelings with Roxanne.
‘They mentioned they were focusing on breathing exercises for her trauma. I bluntly responded, “Excuse me, I have something to say. Frankly, I don’t care about the breathing exercises or her traumatic issues. If you’re going to continue with this nonsense, I don’t want you in my life.” That’s how I feel. The matter is resolved,’ said Brittany as she left.
Briana emerged 20 minutes later looking dejected.
Briana explained, “My sister had a heated argument with my mom, using harsh words like ‘f** you’ and ‘shut the f** up’. It was a back-and-forth exchange. We seem to be stuck in this harmful cycle, which needs to end.”
Briana in a confessional vented her frustration.
She expressed her disappointment since children are involved in the situation. It’s just me, my two daughters, my mother, and my sister in this case. Ultimately, we share a common objective: creating a harmonious family environment where everyone gets along. If our goal is the same, why aren’t we collaborating to achieve it? This was her sentiment.
In the same episode, we saw Leah Messer, aged 32, accompanying her twin daughters Aliannah and Aleeah, who were 14 years old, for their initial visit to a gynecologist.
‘Your health and wellness is always my priority,’ Leah told the twins.
Leah talked to the twins afterward about their experience.
Aleeah expressed her displeasure about the insufficient sex education provided in schools, stating, “It seems unfair to me that some parents aren’t teaching these important topics to their children.”
Leah in a confessional reflected on her experience as a teen mom.
“Had I received sex education at school, perhaps I wouldn’t have become a teenager mother. Some aspirations of mine went unfulfilled due to an unexpected pregnancy,” she expressed.
Tyler Baltierra went on his first daddy-daughter dance with his daughter Novalee.
Despite his best efforts, he found himself reflecting on their first-born daughter, Carly, whom Tyler and his spouse Catelynn placed for adoption.
He pondered about the experience of having a dance with Carly as his daughter. It was something unique he never got to share with her, simply celebrating who she is. He realized the importance of creating such special moments with Nova and Veda as they grow up, as time passes by so quickly.
Before heading to the dance, Tyler and Novalee shared a meal together, and she assured him that up until then, she hadn’t kissed any boys.
They had a blast at the dance and Tyler afterward made an effort to praise her.
Tyler expressed, “You’re really impressive, young one. Your intelligence is remarkable. You seem thoughtful and contemplative.”
Nova expressed, “You truly are a wonderful father, and I adore you deeply. You never fail to address my inquisitive mind, and I appreciate it immensely. Moreover, your kindness in taking me to the dance is something I’m incredibly thankful for.”
In addition, the episode depicted Maci McKinney having lunch with Ryan Edwards’ latest companion, Amanda, at a restaurant.
Maci mentioned that Amanda was a fellow student in her high school years, and she also featured in an episode of 16 and Pregnant.
As a die-hard enthusiast, I can’t help but share my perspective on Amanda’s heartfelt revelations regarding her sobriety journey following our encounter at the rehab center with Ryan. And let me tell you, it wasn’t easy for me to hold back judgment about her past missteps, but Maci stood firm in showing understanding and compassion instead.
Mackenzie Douthit and Khesanio likewise looked into In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), yet she expressed concerns over its possible effects on her psychological well-being.
Teen Mom: The Next Chapter will return next week on MTV.
