Teddi Mellencamp’s Dad Wants Her in the Family Mausoleum

Teddi Mellencamp shares details about a discussion she held with her dad, John Mellencamp, regarding her funeral arrangements.

43-year-old ex-cast member of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, currently fighting stage four cancer, shared that her father contacted her about joining the ‘communal tomb’ of the family in Indiana, which they share as a group.

As my father gently prodded, I found myself pondering the somber matter at hand with a certain slowness. Yet, his words echoed in my mind: “You might as well be part of this story since you’re already writing your own ending.

In simpler terms, the singer of Jack & Diane shared with his daughter that there would be room in their family tomb for her three children (Slate, 12, Cruz, 10, and Dove, 5) whom she has with her separated husband Edwin Arroyave.

Yesterday, my father called me eleven times consecutively. Eventually I picked up, and I said something like, “I’m currently having a moment in the bathtub, let me enjoy myself for a bit,” she reminisced on her podcast, Two Ts In A Pod. He responded, “I just wanted to confirm that you’ll be included in our family mausoleum.

I stated, “Since I have children, you know, where will they end up? He replied, “There will be a main section for the top five individuals, followed by smaller areas nearby. That’s where everyone will eventually be laid to rest.

He replied, “‘Should I decide on this commitment immediately?’, I asked, and he answered, ‘Since you are currently following your own path, why not include it then?”

The morbid conversation also included the possibility of her entering a vegetative state. 

Teddi expressed to her father that she doesn’t want to be in a vegetative state, causing him to declare that he intends to make decisions regarding this situation.

I expressed, “This serves as a reminder. I don’t wish to end up as an incapacitated individual. I’m ready for a battle, battle, battle, but if I should find myself in a state where I can’t -” and he responded, “I’ll take care of that aspect.

In other words, when he said, “I guess a vegetable is dependent,” I responded by saying, “What you’re implying doesn’t make sense because vegetables don’t have the ability to be dependent. They simply exist as they are.

Teddi expressed that she thinks she’ve made a commitment to participate in the mausoleum as her sister and father are about to visit.

Regardless of the choice, it seems I consented to being in the mausoleum, and I’ll need to focus on helping my sister the following week. My children will follow shortly after.

In 2022, Melancamp was first diagnosed with melanoma, but unfortunately, the cancer has since spread to her lungs and brain. She recently shared this update with US Weekly.

Days after her interview she discovered she had four new tumors on her brain.

She shared with us that she had developed six brain tumors and two lung tumors, which originated from a melanoma that spread throughout her body and formed these tumors internally.

Due to her serious health condition, Mellencamp’s treatment strategy has been revised. She expressed that she will have a clearer understanding of her situation on June 1st. If further treatments are required, including additional surgeries, or if it’s the end, it’s a tough reality to accept. It’s difficult to take in this news.

‘It’s got to be extremely difficult to think about the end.’

‘This is undeniably the most challenging ordeal I have experienced so far, but it seems less daunting now. During my stay in the ICU, I found myself struggling greatly due to memory loss. One day, I came to the painful realization that I missed celebrating my daughter’s birthday; it was heartbreaking. Even though time has passed, it still saddens me when I can’t be as present for my children as I usually would.’

Mellencamp has undergone immunotherapy and radiation treatment in an attempt to beat the cancer.

Following the revelation of the Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills co-star who has left her side during her battle with brain cancer, this refers to that situation.

Teddi revealed Garcelle Beauvais has not reached out once.

However, she said Kyle Richards has been there for her from the start of her cancer battle in 2022.

This year, Teddi shared that she’d been experiencing migraines, prompting her to consult medical professionals. They eventually diagnosed her with six brain tumors and two lung tumors, stemming from a melanoma that spread into these growths.

Instead of directly asking for access, the RHOBH alum approached her former castmate Kyle Richards, saying something like: “We thought of calling Kyle and asking, ‘Is there any chance we could gain entry into Cedars-Sinai?’ She made some calls and managed to arrange a way for us to get in. In the end, it was Kyle who came through for us.

In the span of just two days, I found myself under the skilled hands of an extraordinary surgeon who managed to excise four hidden growths in my brain. Remarkably, I was unaware that these tumors had quietly taken up residence within me for anywhere between six months and a year, and it remained a mystery until then.

Teddi shared that while numerous Bravo celebrities have stood by her during her struggle, there’s one who hasn’t gotten in touch at all, and surprisingly, another set their differences aside to offer support instead.

She mentioned that Garcelle [Beauvais] hasn’t contacted me yet, but Dorit [Kemsley] has. Now, since I’m friends with Erika [Jayne], she asked if it would be okay for Dorit to reach out to you at this moment.

Initially, I expressed uncertainty about my forgiveness speed, but assuredly. However, upon reading her kind message, I find it reasonable to assume our situation will improve.
