Teddi Mellencamp reveals she’s started therapy amid ‘frustrating’ stage four cancer battle

Teddi Mellencamp is prioritizing both her mental and physical well-being while undergoing treatment for stage four cancer.

The mother of three, age 44, recently shared an update with listeners on her podcast, ‘Two T’s in a Pod’ with Tamra Judge. She was seen enjoying time with her family earlier this month.

She explained that starting therapy has been difficult. She’s realized she’s become more physically hesitant and slower in her movements, which is really upsetting. She wishes she could feel and move like she used to.

In February 2025, the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star received a brain cancer diagnosis and needed immediate surgery. The cancer was caused by her melanoma, which she was first diagnosed with in 2022, spreading to her brain.

This news arrived only three months after she revealed her separation from her husband, Edwin Arroyave. They are parents to three children: Slate, age 13, Cruz, age 11, and Dove, who will turn six in February.

According to UsWeekly, John Mellencamp shared that the medications and immunotherapy he’s receiving are hard on his body, and he believes he also hasn’t fully dealt with the emotional and physical effects of his recent surgery.

Looking back, she realized the weight of everything that had happened recently – her divorce, the unexpected emergency surgery, and being separated from her children while she healed. It felt like it was all finally sinking in.

Last October, Mellencamp shared that her cancer was no longer detectable after receiving treatment for several months.

But earlier this month, singer John Mellencamp told hosts Craig Melvin, Dyler Dreyer, and Al Roker on the Today show that his daughter is still in serious condition.

With the initial shock of the situation subsiding, I’m finally starting to feel the weight of it all,” the media personality shared on her podcast. “I’m now realizing what happened and starting to feel afraid in ways I didn’t before.

She admitted to co-host Judge that her biggest fear is ‘that the cancer is going to come back.’

She admitted she’s never even ridden in an Uber alone, explaining that she doesn’t feel very independent yet.

In this episode, Mellencamp responded to statements her father made on both the Today show and the Joe Rogan podcast, where he said she was ‘really sick’ and ‘suffering.’

She explained that her scans still show no sign of cancer, but her condition hasn’t improved. She’s still considered to be at stage four and continues to receive immunotherapy, and unfortunately, she’s still not feeling well.

‘I [hoped] that I would be feeling better by now, but I really don’t.’

She publicly thanked her father in an October Instagram post for his support during her health issues.

Mellencamp recently shared that it’s been ten months since his brain surgery, and he’s deeply thankful for the continuous support John Mellencamp has given him and his family throughout the whole process.

‘Love you so much, Cougs. Thank you for everything ❤️,’ she added.

She recently mentioned on her podcast that she’s been focusing on self-care, including therapy, getting plenty of rest, and spending time with her family.

She explained that she’s been working hard to heal from significant trauma related to past events. She hadn’t fully understood she was dealing with PTSD, but now that she’s addressing it, she’s starting to feel hopeful and like things are improving.
