Ted Lasso star says she nearly skipped audition for hit show

As a huge fan of Ted Lasso, I can’t help but be in awe of Ellie Taylor’s humbling experience with the show. Her story of almost missing her audition due to transportation woes is a reminder of how easily opportunities can slip away if we let minor inconveniences get in the way.

Previously known actors Ellie Taylor from “Ted Lasso” and “Strictly Come Dancing” shared an anecdote about almost not getting cast in the popular soccer series.

The actress who portrays Flo ‘Sassy’ Collins on Apple TV+ nearly stayed home for her tryout due to the challenge of reaching the location.

Taylor, who portrays Flo “Sassy” Collins on the show, shared on Chris Moyles’ Radio X podcast that figuring out transportation for her audition nearly discouraged her from attending.

“Yeah, yeah. I feel so lucky. Honestly, it was an absolute gift of a part,” she said of the role.

“I felt the same way about attending that audition; it was quite a long journey on the other side of London for me. I groaned inwardly, thinking I would need to take multiple trains and a bus. Such an unwelcome addition to my expenses.”

I can relate to that situation. There have been times when I hesitated to attend an event due to inconvenience or lack of motivation. But looking back, every single time I went, it turned out to be a worthwhile experience. So, I’m glad I didn’t let the bus deter me from attending that particular occasion. It’s amazing how life works out when we push ourselves out of our comfort zone!

Taylor took a laid-back attitude when it came to becoming a part of a widely-watched sports program. At first, the actress expressed doubt about her performance, having only viewed her own segments.

“I did watch it, yeah. Yeah. I didn’t initially, because we didn’t have Apple TV+,” she said.

Based on my own experiences as an actor, I can relate to this feeling of uncertainty and apprehension. Filming a scene without having seen the bigger picture of the script can be nerve-wracking. You put your heart and soul into each take, but not knowing how it fits into the overall narrative or tone leaves you questioning your performance. It’s a vulnerable position to be in, and it takes a lot of trust and faith in the director and the production team to believe that everything will come together in the end. I’ve been there before, unsure if I’d given my best, wondering if I’d missed the mark somehow. But ultimately, it’s all part of the creative process, and with time and reflection, those doubts often fade away once the final product is revealed.

Once she began viewing the award-winning GLAAD Media Show, according to Taylor, its uplifting atmosphere provided comfort and assistance in coping with the pandemic.

I finally got my hands on Apple’s latest game and couldn’t contain my excitement! I turned to my husband and exclaimed, “Isn’t it amazing?” Even though we don’t usually agree on our TV shows, we found ourselves immersed in this game together.

During COVID-19 times when positivity was in short supply, it was truly delightful to come across this thing. Its arrival couldn’t have been more timely and uplifting. I must admit, I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it.

I’ve been absolutely loving binge-watching Ted Lasso on Apple TV+ lately. The show is such a breath of fresh air with its heartwarming storyline and hilarious moments. I can’t get enough! As someone who grew up in the UK, I particularly appreciate the spot-on portrayal of British culture and football. It brings back so many memories of my childhood.
