As a die-hard Ted Lasso fan, I am beyond thrilled to hear about Phil Dunster’s next TV role! The man who brought Jamie Tartt to life is set to star in an untitled comedy series on HBO alongside Steve Carell – a reunion that feels like a match made in comedic heaven.
Ted Lasso star Phil Dunster has landed his next TV role in a new untitled comedy series from HBO.
As reported by Deadline, the Emmy-nominated actor has been announced to appear in a 10-part series, sharing the screen with Steve Carell from “The Office”. This upcoming series is set on a university campus and features Carell as an author with a complex dynamic with his daughter.
For now, specifics about the storyline, such as who the character Dunster represents, are being deliberately hidden.

The first episode is being penned by team members Bill Lawrence and Matt Tarses from the show “Scrubs”. They will also serve as executive producers along with Carell, Jeff Ingold, and Liza Katzer in this project.
The upcoming series signifies a get-together of Dunster and Lawrence, the duo who jointly created and oversaw production of “Ted Lasso” on Apple TV+.
In 2023, Dunster gained recognition for his performance as Jamie Tartt, the AFC Richmond striker, in a critically acclaimed comedy series. His portrayal led to an Emmy nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
In May 2023, the popular series Ted Lasso concluded following its third season, yet an encouraging development regarding a possible fourth season surfaced in August.

It’s been confirmed that Warner Bros Television has exercised the options for three original cast members: Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift. Additionally, the studio is anticipated to negotiate new agreements with actors whose contracts with SAG-AFTRA have ended, including the main actor Jason Sudeikis.
Earlier, Lawrence mentioned that he might become quite anxious if a new season was approved, yet clarified that such an event could happen only if Sudeikis decided to return.
We’d all be eager to repeat the experience if given a chance, but everyone would agree unanimously – whatever Jason plans or decides, we’re fully supportive. He’s not just the main character; he’s also the chief writer,” he remarked.
Ted Lasso is streaming in its entirety on Apple TV+.
