Ted Lasso season 4 is officially back in development at Apple TV+ (See which cast members are confirmed to return)

As a die-hard Ted Lasso fan with a heart as big as Roy Kent’s mustache and a love for the game of football that rivals Ted himself, I couldn’t contain my excitement when I heard the news about season 4! After binge-watching every episode multiple times, discussing each character’s development over countless cups of tea (or beer, depending on the time of day), and even dreaming about AFC Richmond victories in my sleep, this announcement feels like a long-awaited gift from the football gods.

At last, it seems our hopes for another season of Ted Lasso were not in vain, as the fourth season of this beloved series has reportedly commenced its production on Apple TV+!

Based on Deadline’s initial report, Warner Bros. Television and Apple TV are gearing up for a fourth season of their Emmy-winning series. They have initiated the process by setting up a writers’ room and aiming to reunite the cast. Assuming everything progresses smoothly, production on season 4 might start in early 2025, with a possible release window between Fall 2025 and Spring 2026.

The fourth season’s production depends on securing a budget and reuniting the cast, a process that Warner Bros. Television is currently initiating.

Who is returning for Ted Lasso season 4

Absolutely, the initial move is securing the actors for the upcoming season, and Warner Bros. Television has begun finalizing contracts with the stars associated with our beloved characters.

In preparation for Season 4 of the TV series produced by Warner Bros., the producers have secured the return of key cast members: Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca Walton), Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent), and Jeremy Swift (Leslie Higgins). It is anticipated that a similar agreement has been made with creator-star Jason Sudeikis, as the continuation of the show was dependent on his willingness to carry on.

Following agreements with Waddingham, Goldstein, Swift, and Sudeikis, it appears Warner Bros. Television is now eagerly moving forward to connect with other essential cast members of the show, such as Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard) and Juno Temple (Keeley Jones).

Besides that particular group, it remains uncertain who else Warner Bros. TV might be attempting to reassemble, but there are undeniably several cast members we find hard to envision the series proceeding without. Among them are Phil Dunster as Jamie Tartt, Nick Mohammed as Nathan Shelley, Cristo Fernández as Dani Rojas, Toheeb Jimoh as Sam Obisanya, and James Lance as Trent Crimm.

Since many members of the cast have openly expressed their wish to rejoin the series, it seems logical that Warner Bros. Television might manage to gather most of the main characters. However, potential complexities could arise due to budget constraints and the busy schedules of the actors involved.

Ted Lasso season 4 will have a lot to potentially unpack

While it’s still uncertain what Season 4 of Ted Lasso may bring, there are certainly numerous storylines that the series could delve into as it continues to unravel the threads left hanging by the season 3 finale. This finale, though it seemed like the end, actually opens up a lot of possibilities for further exploration.

Initially, it’s worth noting that at the end of the competition, Ted Lasso departed from the UK to reconnect with his son Henry in Kansas, following his successful stint with AFC Richmond where they secured a runner-up position. With Ted no longer part of AFC Richmond, the series must devise a compelling narrative for his departure and eventually bring him back, considering that the season 3 finale depicted Roy Kent taking over as head coach at AFC Richmond.

1) Similarly, the Keeley, Roy, and Jamie love triangle didn’t reach its final act in any way, leaving us with fingers crossed for more of their storyline in the fourth season. As for romantic developments, the finale of season 3 subtly suggested that Rebecca could be in line for a second shot at joy when she encountered the Dutchman she once spent a romantic day with during the season, only to find out he’s actually a pilot.

Later, the most tantalizing revelation in the final episode was when Keeley suggested starting an AFC Richmond women’s team to Rebecca. Could it be that season 4 will delve into the creation and launch of this team, and perhaps this endeavor could serve as the catalyst for Ted’s return to the UK?

Without a doubt, there’s much to ponder from the finale of season 3 and we can hardly wait to see how those narratives might unfold in season 4. If Apple TV+ decides to renew Ted Lasso for another season, it seems increasingly likely that it will!
