Team Tidebound bring a new Dota 2 threat from China
As a devoted Dota 2 fan, I’m thrilled to announce that my favorite team, Team Tidebound, has officially earned a spot in a top-tier tournament! This is a significant milestone for us fans and an exciting moment for the Chinese Dota 2 community. We can’t wait to see them compete against some of the best teams in the world!
In days long past, Chinese Dota 2 was renowned for its formidable might. Teams like PSG.LGD, Wings Gaming, and Newbee ruled the professional sphere. However, China has been noticeably absent from its former glory for quite some time now. A minor revival has occurred in recent years with teams such as Azure Ray (AR) and Xtreme Gaming (XG), but their impact hasn’t been as significant as it once was. Nevertheless, a new team emerged in 2025, aiming to restore China’s dominance in Dota 2: Team Tidebound.
Who is Team Tidebound?
In early 2025, when CN Dota 2 wasn’t thriving, there was a call for a new team to energize the fans. Following AR’s retirement, this group formed. Known as Team Tidebound, they made headlines by recruiting big names in the Dota 2 scene. This team boasted several familiar faces from the victorious Wings Gaming of The International 2016, along with more players from the 2023 LGD Gaming squad. With such a formidable lineup, Team Tidebound promised to be a force to reckon with.
- Guo “shiro” Xuanang
- Cheng “NothingToSay” Jin Xiang
- Zhang “Bach” Ruida (formerly Faith_bian)
- Lin “planet” Hao
- Zhang “y`” Yiping
- Zhou “bLink” Yang (coach)
This team boasts a rich collective experience from all its members, coupled with an exceptional coach, making them capable of achieving greatness. From the world-class mid-lane prowess of NothingToSay, to the phenomenal support skills of y`, each player on Tidebound stands out individually as exceptional talents.
PGL Wallachia and beyond
As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share that although our team, Tidebound, didn’t qualify for DreamLeague Season 25 earlier this year, we’ve made an impressive debut at the ongoing PGL Wallachia Season 3. Things have been looking promising so far! In the Group Stage, we secured strong wins against teams like Team Falcons and HEROIC, and even showed tenacity against Tundra Esports. Regrettably, our drafting strategy fell short when facing XG in the Playoffs, pushing us into the lower bracket for now.
To sum it up, Tidebound has successfully earned a berth at PGL Wallachia Season 4, happening in April. Additionally, FISSURE Universe Episode 4 is set to air later this month. Interestingly, despite not qualifying for ESL One Raleigh 2025, Tidebound was awarded the spot that XG relinquished following their recent roster shift.
With a lineup boasting so much skill, Tidebound is gearing up for an exhilarating year. Yet, resurrecting CN’s reputation in Dota 2 will be no easy feat. Add to that the current reign of Team Spirit and the challenges posed by PGL Wallachia Season 3, which already has its flaws, and they might struggle to stay together. However, if they manage to secure a place on the podium at some forthcoming tournaments, there just might be a chance for Team Tidebound.
