Team Falcons are your BetBoom Dacha Champions in Belgrade

As a die-hard Dota 2 fan who’s been through countless tournaments and heartbreaks, I can confidently say that Team Falcons’ victory at BetBoom Dacha 2024 was nothing short of spectacular! After years of coming close but never quite seizing the title, they finally broke their curse in Belgrade. The series against Tundra Esports was a rollercoaster ride that had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish.

The curse that had been hanging over Team Falcons has finally been lifted! They emerged victorious as champions of BetBoom Dacha in Belgrade following a series of five thrilling matches.

The underdogs, Team Falcons, triumphed in Belgrade and claimed the title of BetBoom Dacha 2024 Champions. However, their victory wasn’t straightforward, as Tundra Esports came extremely close to winning following a powerful performance in the third game out of five.

After finishing third at Riyadh Masters, fourth at TI, and second at PGL Wallachia S2, The Falcons finally broke their season-long jinx. In their victory interview, Ammar confidently declared to the global audience: “I am the world’s best, a claim that no one can dispute.

Despite having another match tomorrow at the DreamLeague S24, this series is bound to be etched in memory due to its most thrilling instances. Join us as we recap the entire tale, complete with highlights!

Game 1: The importance of Aegis of the Immortal

Initially, the match was balanced, that is until Nightfall’s Luna acquired the Aegis of the Immortal. In their quest for the BetBoom Dacha Champions trophy, Tundra opted to turn the game into a farming contest. Skiter had the Gyrocopter for Falcons, making the match seem very competitive due to Doom’s continuous earnings as well. However, it wasn’t just about accumulating wealth.

Tundra’s draft was better prepared for the teamfight scenario, as they had the perfect combination of initiation and defensive play. Their weakness was on how easily killed the Luna is, and their stun potential after Beastmaster’s Primal Roar was used. The solution they came up to steal the first game against Falcons was securing Roshan: Aegis for Nightfall, Refresh Shard for 33.

Game 2: Falcons wasn’t ready to give up on the BetBoom Dacha Champions title

Unlike the first match, the second game was not balanced at all. Beginning from the fourteenth minute, it became a one-sided victory for Team Falcons. Despite having a win rate of less than 40%, Tundra attempted to strategize around a Bristleback character. However, the MENA team effectively thwarted this strategy with their powerful burst magic and rapid tempo.

Additionally, the team relied on frequent clashes using Pangolier, a character who thrives in the early game since most players don’t have a BKB (Black King Bar). Conversely, Tundra’s strategy revolved around their Medusa, which requires the late game to be effective. As a result, Falcons swiftly eliminated any potential comeback chances for Tundra and eventually won with a score of 30 kills to 17.

Game 3: A taste of their own medicine

As a devoted fan, I must admit that by this stage of the tournament, everyone was aware of Skiter’s Alchemist’s terrifying prowess. Yet, nobody could have anticipated just how formidable Nightfall would be with this selection. Tundra, in an unprecedented display, shattered records and effortlessly controlled the networth of the third game from the very minute five.

However, Team Falcons possessed numerous weapons for combat, yet they required to take the first step. In some team skirmishes, Malrine’s Storm Spirit successfully divided Tundra’s back line, creating an opportunity for Skiter to attack unhindered with his Gyrocopter. Their main challenge was disengaging before Alchemist could reinitiate the fight.

In the heat of the third match in the BetBoom Dacha Champions series, Tundra had amassed such a lead that just one final push was all it took for them. Once we’d claimed Roshan, there was no doubt in our minds that victory was within reach.

Game 4: Absolute cinema

40 minutes into a Dota 2 game, a wealth gap of 6K or 8K means it’s essentially a tie. This implies that the fourth game in the series was closely balanced until the final moments. A small error decided whether they would win the Betboom Dacha Champions title or had to play another match instead.

And suddenly, it happened: Ammar The Unkillable baited the fight with a beefy Doom pick, while Tundra was playing with two glass canons. One of them, the Storm Spirit, had to play extremely careful—getting doomed would be the end for him, and they needed the Storm to control Falcons’ teamfighting capacities. The clip you’re about to see is the proof that patience pays, and that a Game 5 was what this Grand Finals deserved.

Game 5: The BetBoom Dacha Champions

Previously mentioned, Skiter is known to be intimidating alongside Alchemist. Prior to this matchup, Team Falcons had a history of playing this hero on six occasions, and emerged victorious five times. In this specific game though, the MENA carry found the match-up challenging: Even by minute 30, he was neck and neck with Nightfall’s Ursa in terms of farm accumulation.

The game remained intense, and things became even more captivating as the late stages approached. Enigma’s 33’s Refresher Orb posed a continuous danger, leading to several tense skirmishes on the Falcons’ side. However, in a pivotal moment during the top lane push, Tundra seized a crucial opportunity: Enigma successfully trapped Alchemist with a black hole, but the advantage swung further in Tundra’s favor when ATF leaped into the trap.

However, whatever Ammar provides, he subsequently reclaims. Despite utilizing many of their buybacks, ATF retained the advantageous position with a stunning Aeon Disk-Refresher move. This strategy allowed them to make 33 use his second Black Hole prematurely, ultimately leading to Nightfall’s defeat.

For Tundra Esports, the subsequent battles seemed like a chain of letdowns. Ultimately, they found themselves caught off guard, without the chance to regroup, leading Falcons to claim victory in the series.
