Warp Films, the production company responsible for the crime drama “Adolescence,” starring Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne, is reviving the emotionally raw and brutally honest 1980s BBC series “Threads.
Back in 1984, I first stumbled upon this riveting documentary-like movie on BBC Two, and it was all about an imaginary nuclear catastrophe, unfolding in the heart of Sheffield.
Featuring Reece Dinsdale in the leading role as Jimmy Kemp, the television movie that garnered four BAFTA honors was helmed by director Mick Jackson, with Barry Hines responsible for the screenplay.
In regards to the recent transformation from a movie to a television series, Mark Herbert, the founder and CEO of Warp Films, mentioned that the show will delve into the impact of nuclear war on ordinary lives, all while providing a contemporary twist to the tale.

In her role as chief creative officer and executive producer, Emily Feller expressed similar thoughts as Herbert, stating that the upcoming show aims to retell the story in a way that resonates with today’s viewers.
Feller stated that this modification opens up new perspectives for understanding, particularly relevant to our current era. We envision emphasizing the power of adaptability and interconnectedness as sources of optimism, even amidst difficult situations.
