Team BDS recently changed its name to Shifters, and the new name has become a source of amusement for other esports organizations and fans.
Team BDS, a Swiss esports organization famous for its League of Legends team in the ELC, recently changed its name to “Shifters.” The rebrand quickly became a popular topic of playful teasing from fans and other esports teams, which was all taken in good spirits during the currently quiet period between seasons.
Team BDS is now Shifters
The organization unveiled its new look in mid-December and quickly followed that with a team announcement. These players will be the first to represent the ‘Shifters’ brand when the LEC 2026 season begins.
- Top lane: Shin “Rooster” Yun-hwan
- Jungle: Mehdi “Boukada” Lahlou
- Mid lane: Ilias “nuc” Bizriken
- Bot lane: Park “Paduck” Seok-hyeon
- Support: Adrian “Trymbi” Trybus
Meanwhile, they will retain Team BDS’ Rainbow Six Siege roster.
The announcement included a detailed look at the new Shifters logo, explaining the different parts and how it was designed.
Initially, nothing seemed unusual. Shifters is a new company, and they were simply introducing themselves and sharing their mission with the public.
But other esports teams also shared their thoughts on the logo. NRG, for instance, published the image shown below.
Ruddy Corp. also participated, and it appears they subtly highlighted their use of AI in the main content of their work.
The team at Shifters handled the rebranding well and noted how quickly it spread online. However, they still had some challenges to overcome.
The organization’s new name has sparked negative reactions online, with people quickly creating unflattering nicknames. The most popular choice quickly became “Shiers,” though “Grifters” was also widely suggested.
Okay, so now all the Shifters need to do is really show what they’ve got in the 2026 LEC season, starting with LEC Versus. Honestly, I think they’ve got a great team! Adding Paduck as an import player is huge, and I’m so excited to see Trymbi back in the LEC after his time in the LTA – he’s a fantastic player.
