Director Paul Feig has shared how Taylor Swift responded to her song being featured in Sydney Sweeney’s new movie, The Housemaid.
The 63-year-old director, whose latest film is being called a thrilling and fun ride, recently discussed the subject while speaking with Deadline at the movie’s Hollywood premiere on Monday.
As the movie ended, audiences heard Taylor Swift’s 2017 song “I Did Something Bad” playing during the credits.
According to Feig, if you want to use a Taylor Swift song in a film, she and her team need to give their approval first.
He then admitted that he initially believed the songstress would not ‘clear’ the usage of the song.
We thought the movie was great, but we weren’t sure Taylor would approve it. Luckily, after showing it to her and her team, she gave it the green light! We’re really grateful for her support. Thanks, Taylor!

Sweeney, known for her role in The Housemaid, shared her opinion on why it was significant that Taylor Swift’s song played during the film’s closing moments.
‘It’s so perfect,’ the Euphoria actress recently told People.
Her co-star Amanda Seyfried chimed in to add, ‘We saw it before it was fully confirmed.’
Sweeney explained they felt it was crucial to hold onto something, emphasizing, “We absolutely couldn’t lose this, we had to keep it!”
Seyfried remembered watching the movie and how they reacted – they ‘screamed like little girls,’ which she said perfectly captured the thrilling energy Taylor Swift’s music creates.
The Anyone But You star then added, ‘And it brings every generation together, which is so fun.’
Taylor Swift has often contributed music to films, with her songs appearing in soundtracks for movies like The Hunger Games, Fifty Shades Darker, Sing, and Letters to Juliet.
Feig shared with People that when Taylor Swift signed off on the project, the team was ecstatic. He still feels thrilled whenever the topic is brought up.

Someone suggested having a dance party during the end credits, and honestly, it made me want to jump up and dance too.
In addition to Sweeney and Seyfried, Brandon Sklenar, Michele Morrone, and Elizabeth Perkins are also starring in the thriller.
The film is based on the 2022 novel of the same name which was written by Freida McFadden.
Sweeney recently talked about her connection with Seyfried while promoting their suspenseful thriller on the Today show.
“We were all really enjoying ourselves,” Sweeney explained. “I think it was because the story had so many unexpected twists and turns, and we were just having a fantastic time.”
The Mean Girls actress also shared that they all approached the work in a similar way and simply enjoyed themselves.
It’s important to find humor even when dealing with serious or difficult topics, and I believe the chemistry between us really shines through in the film because we work so well together.
The two actresses jokingly discussed having a relaxing space on set – they called it their ‘girls room’ and it featured a large bed where they could chill out.

Seyfried said she’d love to get back into crocheting, reminiscing about how comfortable and relaxed it was when she and her friends would gather on the floor together.
The Today show host joked about needing to relax after filming, mentioning ‘makeup blood and stuff,’ and Seyfried confirmed there was a significant amount of fake blood used in the movie’s scenes.
Sweeney also opened up about developing a close bond with Seyfried while filming The Housemaid.
“My sister Amanda and I are incredibly close,” she shared with Variety recently. “We have a ton of fun together.”
For me, the best part of acting is when you connect with a scene partner – someone you genuinely enjoy working with, who makes you feel safe enough to really let go and be free. It’s that feeling of trust and playfulness that unlocks everything.
The actor explained that this environment actually improves those scenes, creating a safe and liberating space where performers can take risks and try new things without fear of judgment.

The Euphoria actress has also voiced her interest in returning for a sequel to The Housemaid.
‘I would love to [reprise the role],’ she revealed to People of her character named Millie.
I absolutely loved the books, so I’d be thrilled, just like other fans, to see the story continue with more of the Housemaids and to learn more about Millie.
Sweeney described the actress as fiery and resilient, someone who is sure of her convictions and isn’t afraid to defend them. She expressed her admiration for strong female characters and films that fully explore female anger.
