Taylor Swift’s new music video for “Opalite,” released last week, caused a big reaction from fans. It includes several celebrities she had previously appeared with on “The Graham Norton Show” back in October.
The singer was thrilled when actor Domhnall Gleeson revealed he’d always wanted to be in one of her music videos.
The upbeat video includes cameos from the entire cast, including Lewis Capaldi, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, Cillian Murphy, and Graham Norton.
The singer continued to show her appreciation for fans on Friday by releasing two longer versions of her music videos, including footage from behind the scenes.
In the video, Taylor and Domhnall’s characters find love with each other after escaping unhealthy relationships – his with a cactus, and hers with a rock.
Okay, so get this – Taylor totally kept the whole sparkly blue tracksuit dance scene a SECRET from Domhnall! Can you believe it? She didn’t tell him anything about it until he actually showed up on set. I’m obsessed with that scene, and the fact she surprised him makes it even better! It’s just… perfection.
She playfully admitted she hadn’t warned Dom about the dancing. She explained she’d rather tell him face-to-face.
The Irish actor added: ‘This dance thing is new, I want everyone to know that.’
Taylor shared that she spent about a year figuring out the concept for the Opalite video. The idea finally came to her while she was a guest on The Graham Norton Show.
She explained that Domhnall was in a harmful relationship, comparing it to being with a cactus – he was getting hurt constantly.
Domhnall joked that having a girlfriend who’s ‘prickly’ is tricky, but he likes the idea of finding the right person, which is what really matters.
She shared the special edition photos on Friday, writing, ‘I want to remember every moment of this fun photoshoot, and now I can!’
We’re thrilled to release more of the Opalite music video! You can now watch two extended cuts featuring dance tutorials, fun cameos, behind-the-scenes camcorder footage, and plenty of 80s/90s style with big scrunchies and fanny packs. Check out Parts 1 & 2 – the link is in our bio!
On set photos reveal the cast getting ready to film. Lewis plays a photographer, Greta a singer, and Jodie a fitness instructor.
The story begins by showing the unusual connections each character has – Domhnall with a cactus, and Taylor with a rock. They eventually find each other thanks to a special spray bottle called Opalite.
As a lifestyle observer, I’ve noticed some interesting celebrity endorsements lately! Brendan Graham, at 62, is currently featured in a campaign for a new spray product, and Cillian, who’s 49, is the face of Opalite in their latest ad. It’s always fun to see what products catch the eye of these well-known personalities!
Taylor Swift shared on Instagram that the concept for her music video came to her while she was a guest on BBC1’s The Graham Norton Show in October.
The singer appeared to promote her new album, ‘The Life Of A Showgirl,’ featuring the song ‘Opalite’.
On Friday, she shared that Domhnall jokingly said he’d like to appear in one of her music videos while they were chatting on air.
He’s Irish, so he was just kidding! But then, right in the middle of the interview, I suddenly had a brilliant idea.
The singer, who is engaged to NFL player Travis Kelce, also shared how happy she was that the cast and crew of her show all worked to recreate the 1990s for her music video. She said it was the most fun she’s ever had.
