Taylor Swift shared that she and Travis Kelce were engaged before Ed Sheeran even knew, finding out the news on Instagram.
The 35-year-old pop star and the 36-year-old NFL player announced that he proposed in August at his house, with a beautiful flower arrangement as the backdrop.
While appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to promote her new album, The Life Of A Showgirl, singer Taylor Swift played a game where Jimmy Fallon read five rumors about her, and she had to guess which one was actually true.
Jimmy was surprised to learn the Grammy-winning singer hadn’t bothered to call Ed with her good news before announcing it to her 281 million followers and Travis’ 7.9 million followers.
Oh my gosh, Taylor was absolutely radiant in that silver dress! But honestly, the cutest thing happened! She was just gushing about him, saying he *doesn’t even have a phone*! Can you believe it? She was practically squealing, saying it’s the most adorable, quirky thing ever, and I totally agree! It’s just…perfect. I’m obsessed!
When I was trying to decide who to reach out to, scrolling through my messages and thinking about who I’d talked to recently, his name just didn’t appear. He hadn’t been in contact for a while.
She explained that contacting him involved emailing first, and if he wanted to video chat, someone had to locate an iPad for him, almost as if he were a child being given a tablet to play with.
This person is one of my favorites, and when I heard the news, I immediately realized we’d forgotten to contact Ed!

Jimmy admired the stunning ring on her finger, jokingly saying it was dazzling. The singer shared that she finds herself looking at it all the time.
Taylor explained that Travis proposed to her immediately after she finished recording an episode of his podcast, New Heights.
She recalled him saying ‘my heart’s racing’ and added, ‘I’ve never seen this dude nervous, ever.’
The Grammy winner described how Travis created the romantic atmosphere for his proposal at their house, right before he asked the question.
I believe the podcast was mainly a way for Travis to distract me, a tactic to prevent me from noticing what was happening outside the house.
Fallon asked about the backyard, mentioning the photos the singer had posted on Instagram of Kelce’s detailed garden proposal with lots of flowers.
Taylor explained that whenever he records his podcast, he completely blocks out all the light by using blackout curtains on every window in the house.
‘I was like, “He is so serious about this,” and I really appreciate that.’
She continued, explaining that she later noticed he seemed anxious about the podcast.
He said he was really excited, explaining, “My heart is racing, and I know how much this means to you. I truly want this to live up to your expectations.” We had been discussing starting a podcast and revealing details about the new album.
‘He’s professionally not a nervous person,’ she added.
He asked if they wanted to take a walk in the backyard and share a glass of wine.
I’m like, “I’m always going to want to do that.”‘
‘And then I realized exactly why all of the windows were curtained and why he was nervous,’ she explained.
‘It was the best possible case scenario,’ the star raved.
Taylor shared how much she loves her fiancé, telling Jimmy he’s the best person she’s ever known.
She explained that simply being with him every day for the rest of her life was the most important part of everything. Showing off her ring, she said, “The thought of spending forever with him is what this is all about.”
She also shared that Travis had the ring ‘for a long time.’
The host commented on the footballer’s dedication, and Taylor agreed, adding that he’d owned the item for quite a while before giving it to Taylor.
‘He had it, like he custom did this and designed it with this amazing jeweler who he made it with.’
‘It’s gorgeous. Even the sides are beautiful,’ Jimmy gushed about the sparkling rock.
“I get it!” Taylor said, excitedly. “I’m always looking at it, and honestly, it still doesn’t feel normal to me at all.”
