Taylor Swift pokes fun at Travis Kelce’s brother Jason for obsessing over his ‘beer’ when he met Royal Family

During her popular podcast episode on New Heights, airing on Wednesday, Taylor Swift shared a chuckle at the expense of Travis Kelce’s brother, Jason.

Around the one-hour mark of the podcast, I found myself listening to a 35-year-old pop sensation reflect on their shared moment when Travis joined me for my Eras Tour performances at the legendary Wembley Stadium in London.

Taylor reminisced, “I believe it was this past week when I saw Jason encounter the Royal Family.” Following that, they both joked good-naturedly at Jason, 37, for his anxious preoccupations regarding his behavior prior to their encounter with them, who are 35 years old.

The musician captured the memorable events by taking selfies that included Prince William, who was celebrating his birthday, as well as his children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, thus immortalizing their performances in these photos.

As I posed the question, “Travis, are you up for meeting them?”, it was evident that she was genuinely invested, for which her subsequent words confirmed.

‘He was like, “What do I do with my beer?”‘ the Kansas City Chiefs tight end said.

Taylor commented on her boyfriend’s actions, saying, “I observed him in a moment with his beer, hesitant and struggling: ‘I desire to pick it up, but I recognize that I likely shouldn’t.’

‘I watched this happen and it was kind of the most amazing [thing],’ she said with a laugh.

Jason confirmed that Taylor was ‘exactly’ right about his tortured mental process at the time.

If I don’t have a beer, what will I do with this hand now? Or is having a beer just part of who I am? Typically, I would have a beer. Aren’t they hoping I stay true to myself?” Taylor playfully mimicked Jason’s internal debate about the beer.

She made sure to explain, “What I understand from your words is what you’re thinking internally.” Additionally, she found the performance simply ‘outstanding’. “It’s something I’ll never forget,” she added.

Last year in June, during their high-profile encounter at New Heights, Travis not only took a selfie with his partner and members of the Royal Family but also disclosed some insights about this notable event later on.

The Super Bowl champion expressed his admiration for Prince William, saying, ‘He’s just incredibly charming and charismatic!

Additionally, he mentioned that he wasn’t expecting Prince George and Princess Charlotte to attend, yet the encounter proved to be a genuine pleasure.

During that point in time, Jason and Travis debated about the proper way to greet a member of the Royal Family, as they were uncertain about the appropriate protocol.

Travis confessed that he wasn’t quite certain whether he should bow, curtsey, or simply act as a typical American by shaking their hands instead.

however, Jason made it clear that they had received an instruction on the correct manner to address Prince William and his offspring as a greeting.

He explained that since it wasn’t a formal royal function, there was no requirement for bows or curtsies. However, if it had been an official gathering of the royalty, such protocols would have been observed.

‘But I did still address him as Your Royal Highness,’ Jason added.

Later, the conversation took a somber turn as Taylor shared a health update on her father Scott.

The artist-composer shared with Travis and Jason that her father experienced a rather unusual summer, following a highly invasive heart surgery involving five bypasses.

Towards the end of the podcast, she mentioned that her mother Andrea, who was initially diagnosed with cancer in 2015 and subsequently discovered to have a brain tumor in 2020, had undergone a recent knee replacement surgery.

Taylor expressed surprise, as she mentioned that her father, who had been previously declared healthy through annual perfect EKGs and good physicals, required such an extensive procedure in July.

On Wednesday, the podcast went live, preceding the moment when Taylor shared the cover art of her upcoming album titled “The Life Of A Showgirl.” She had teased this reveal in a sneak peek from the podcast, which she dropped late on Tuesday night after midnight.

During a resting stress test this year, it was discovered that Scott’s heart health was significantly worse than initially thought, with the presence of five substantial blocks in his heart.

Taylor stated that now, her father advises all his friends to undergo the identical resting stress test, as he believes it is truly preventative.

Early detection of blockages might allow individuals to undergo less intrusive placement of stents, as noted by Taylor.

Instead, it’s important to note that open-heart surgery, commonly associated with bypass procedures, is a highly invasive method where the sternum (breastbone) might need to be split to allow access to the heart, as explained by the Mayo Clinic.

As a dedicated follower, I’d like to share that this surgical procedure is designed to mend the harm inflicted by coronary artery disease. In this condition, the heart’s arteries get partially or completely clogged with plaques, which restricts the supply of oxygen to the heart. This situation can potentially escalate into a heart attack.

During an operation, medications are administered to momentarily halt the heart’s functioning. Meanwhile, a device assists in circulating blood and delivering oxygen to other parts of the body.

As a dedicated follower, I’d share that undergoing a procedure involving the transplantation of healthy, unobstructed blood vessels – often sourced from within my chest or lower leg – allows for bypassing the clogged areas in my arteries. Post-procedure recovery generally spans between 6 to 12 weeks.

The Reputation singer emphasized that doctors underscored the urgency of the operation for her father, stating something along the lines of ‘this needs to be done, essentially, tomorrow.’

As per Taylor, it was unexpected that her father could walk in without any apparent discomfort, given how severely blocked his heart’s arteries were, according to the doctors.

When I found myself hastily preparing for an unexpected surgery, I reassured Taylor and her brother Austin that there was no immediate need for them to interrupt their own commitments to be by my side. Though I had every intention of putting aside everything to stand by me during this time, I recognized the importance of their individual responsibilities.

‘He was being the brave dad, the strong dad, you know,’ Travis added.

Taylor found it hard to believe that her father was trying so hard to minimize the gravity of his illness.

He mentioned an analogy: “Just as a wounded cat huddles near a tree to heal, so does one recover from adversity in a similar manner.

I said, ‘Dad, it’s not possible for cats to undergo quintuple bypass surgery. That’s absurd! You’re just saying things without any real meaning for me.’

Taylor assured her father that she wouldn’t cause a commotion and would travel to be with him, but in reality, it was a lie. Upon waking, he found himself surrounded by Taylor, her brother, their mother Andrea, and his closest companion.

She shared that upon waking, Scott behaved oddly for the initial 15 minutes, transforming into quite the jester, which left an impression on her since she felt he was amusingly funny even without being under the influence of anesthesia.

During the Eras Tour, the singer reminisced about the moment his family informed him, in disbelief, that he underwent a quintuple bypass surgery, unaware of the number of clogged arteries prior to the operation.

In an attempt to mimic my father’s raspy tone after surgery, I croaked out, “You know, I hail from a highly competitive household.

Scott, who seemed disoriented following his surgery, attempted to share some of Taylor’s guitar picks with the medical staff around him, a customary token he usually keeps handy for fans. However, he was not wearing pants and his surgical gown lacked pockets, making it impossible to store the picks at that moment.

Initially during his recuperation, she observed that the typical parent-child relationship had reversed, with her taking on the role of her father’s caretaker instead.

She smiled, remembering how her parents would chide her for staying up late to chat with Abigail on the phone when she should have been asleep, a behavior now reversed as her brother pleads with her to take their father’s phone since he had spent all night FaceTiming friends from his hospital bed instead of resting properly.

‘That’s, like, one of the main things you need,’ Travis reiterated.

Taylor narrated a humorous incident where they, Austin and their mom, all declined to grab his phone, each trying to avoid his possible displeasure.

The folk singer mentioned how oddly poetic it felt that her father had once constructed her cradles and playsets, whereas she now found herself constructing items like his shower chair, walker, and adjustable bed for him.

Since Scott wasn’t able to walk independently at first, Taylor decided to stay with her father throughout the summer to assist him. She even had to acquire a harness to help him move around.

Travis then jumped in to say her father was ‘full of life’ and ‘appreciative that he caught it.’

In the course of the podcast, it emerged that Taylor’s mother has also received some significant health updates, specifically a replacement for her knee.

She is progressing wonderfully. Initially, she mentioned that she was moving about energetically, but then clarified that we aren’t there quite yet in terms of being very active, but she’s still doing great.

Travis added, ‘She’s up and moving around.’

Taylor notably didn’t share any updates on her mother’s previous cancer diagnosis.

2015 saw a report indicating that Andrea received an unnamed type of cancer diagnosis. However, this condition eventually went into remission.

However, Taylor disclosed in a 2019 Elle article that her mother’s cancer had recurred. In 2020, she announced that doctors had identified a brain tumor in her mother.

Or, more informally:

But in a 2019 essay for Elle, Taylor shared that her mom’s cancer came back. Then, unfortunately, in 2020, she said doctors found a brain tumor in her mom.

Ever since then, I, an ardent fan, have secretly followed my beloved superstar singer through her personal journey with her mother’s cancer battle. Although there haven’t been any fresh updates to share, the fact that her mom, Andrea, has been a consistent and luminous presence on my idol’s Eras Tour has left us fans hopeful and optimistic. It’s as if she adds an extra sparkle to each performance, reminding us of her unwavering strength and love.

Towards the end of the podcast, Taylor referred to the previous period as ‘my summer of parental improvements.’

She mentioned that they were enhancing the lifespan of these individuals to a minimum of 186 years, as they are her cherished friends whom she deeply admires, she explained.

The singer once more displayed an emotional tone as she passionately expressed her gratitude for the extended time spent with her parents during the summer.

After residing together for a longer duration, she discovered she valued their lengthy conversations more, a practice that wasn’t common during her brief and focused visits with her parents before.
