Taylor Swift Fans Blame Her for Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds’ Falling Out in Resurfaced Clip

One method of rephrasing this sentence in a more natural and easy-to-understand manner could be: Taylor Swift’s die-hard fans have proposed a theory about the supposed rift between her former boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal and her longtime buddy Ryan Reynolds.

Initially appearing as close friends following their joint role in the 2017 film Life, these two high-profile actors spoke fondly of their friendship that developed while working on the sci-fi/horror production.

However, it appears their relationship cooled down quickly, and a past video of Gyllenhaal’s seemingly cold responses to questions about his friendship with Reynolds has sparked curiosity among Taylor Swift’s followers, fueling rumors that she might have played a role in the reported fallout.

Taylor and Jake were well-known to have been a couple towards the end of 2010; however, their bond didn’t last much longer, and they parted ways around the beginning of 2011.

During an interview on E! News from the June 2019 debut of Jake’s movie Spider-Man: Far From Home, the 44-year-old actor was questioned about his apparent disagreement with Ryan, who was 48 at the time. This conflict appeared to be more for comedic purposes rather than a genuine dispute at that moment.

When his friend inquires about rekindling their close friendship, he responds with a wince, taking a moment before speaking.

The conversation ended with a request for a message to Ryan, however, Jake’s response took everyone by surprise as he spoke in a rather stern manner.

He simply didn’t have anything to communicate to him,” he stated abruptly, meeting the lens of the camera with a solemn expression.

However, the video abruptly ended when he faced the reporter and started smiling at her, implying that his initial stern reaction might have been a playful act meant to entertain.

In early June 2019, Jake and Ryan appeared to indicate a rift between them through what seemed like humorous Instagram posts at that time.

They each shared pictures featuring Hugh Jackman, their common friend, on National Best Friends Day. In the captions, they mentioned that a third friend wasn’t captured in the photos.

It became apparent to fans that the pretended dispute between Ryan and Hugh wasn’t entirely staged, as it seemed Ryan and Jake seldom appeared together anymore.

It appears that Hugh’s friendship with Jake became less visible to the public, although they had been reportedly quite close since their collaboration in the 2013 film “Prisoners.” Interestingly, Hugh’s bond with Ryan remained strong during this period.

In 2021, a source shared with OK! Magazine that the reported rift stemmed from the intense competition in Hollywood. The source explained that tensions began to rise when they both found themselves vying for similar acting opportunities. The relationship started to improve once they acknowledged and eased their rivalry over these roles.

Additionally, they suggested that Ryan’s marriage to Blake Lively, along with their four children, had shifted his focus and made it challenging for him and the perennially single Jake to discover many shared interests.

After it appeared that Ryan and Jake’s friendship had ended, fans have observed that not only did Ryan, but also his spouse Blake and Taylor, have stopped following Jake on Instagram.

It seems the exact sequence of events in the social media dispute isn’t clear, but fans believe it was initially those three celebrities who unfollowed him, and he chose to keep following them.

However, Jake no longer follows any of them, signaling a significant split.

On social media platforms, some enthusiastic followers believe that due to Ryan and Blake’s growing friendship with Taylor, it could have been problematic for him to like Blake’s Instagram posts – in a humorous twist – as this action might provoke the strong reactions of Taylor’s most passionate supporters.

One explanation fans have for suspecting a connection between Taylor and Ryan might stem from the fact that Ryan’s spouse, Blake, directed the video for her song “I Bet You Think About Me,” which appeared on Taylor’s re-recorded Red album (Taylor’s Version).

Fans believe the song, starring actor Miles Teller in its video, serves as a farewell ballad following the artist’s separation from Jake, although she hasn’t explicitly acknowledged this.

Taylor Swift is known for having another hit break-up song, “All Too Well,” that some fans speculate is about her separation from Jake. This song appeared on her highly successful album Red (2012), which was released after the split.

In 2021, the re-recorded edition of the song “Red” was released, bringing it fresh vitality. This updated version featured an extended 10-minute take on All Too Well, while the initial, shorter rendition was still included in the original playlist as well.

Taylor subsequently showcased the extended rendition of the song on Saturday Night Live, and she marked her directorial debut by creating a 15-minute short film that served as both a music video for the expanded version of All Too Well and a movie. This production featured Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien from Stranger Things, along with Taylor herself.

In the brief movie, there was no attempt to refute speculations linking the initial melody to Taylor’s past romance with Jake, since Dylan strongly resembles the mature actor and sported a beard much like the one Gyllenhaal typically sports when not taking photos.

He too is a few years elder than Sadie, much like the eight-year age difference that existed between the initial pair.

In an interview with Esquire after the Red rerelease, Jake disputed any connection to All Too Well.

He replied that the song had no connection to him when inquired about it. Instead, he explained that it was about her bond with her audience, a means of self-expression. After all, artists often draw from their own experiences for motivation, and he has no issue with that.

During that period, he decided to disable comments on his Instagram posts as fans suspected an influx of harsh remarks might accompany the release of his latest album.

In an interview, Gyllenhaal expressed that it’s crucial to maintain civility among supporters when they become disruptive. He also added that this situation raises a profound philosophical question regarding our accountability for what we put out into the world and the impact of our actions. He further posed the question of how we can initiate discussions, as seen in politics, where there’s often anger, division, and at times, it can be life-threatening.

He added that he had never listened to Red (Taylor’s Version).
