It’s widely been described as the most monumental period of time in her glittering career.
It’s understandable that Taylor Swift would have strong feelings about The Eras Tour coming to an end.
In footage from the final two episodes of her Disney+ documentary, The End of an Era, the 36-year-old singer is seen crying onstage as she gets ready to finish her tour and say goodbye to life on the road.
The tour spanned 149 performances across five continents and wrapped up in December 2024. It broke records, becoming the first tour to earn over $2 billion and achieving the highest total revenue of any tour ever.
Last year, during the final shows of her Canadian tour, she performed in Toronto and openly shared her feelings with a crowd of thousands.
While performing songs from her ‘Evermore’ and ‘Folklore’ albums, she paused to address the crowd, became emotional, and started to cry.

As the crowd roared with excitement, she said, ‘Toronto, we’re nearing the end of the show, and this incredible reaction means the world to me…’
Overcome with emotion, she continued, ‘To the team and everyone who worked so hard on this tour – I’m getting a little lost for words, I apologize. It’s not even the final performance!’
Following her performance, she spoke with her brother, Austin, about getting emotional on stage. She admitted, ‘I started crying and felt really silly. I just couldn’t seem to find the right words, and it was a bit embarrassing.’
She then called her mother, Andrea, to talk about the show, telling her, “Things are going to be really emotional from now on…”
The last two episodes of the documentary series showed Taylor and her crew getting ready to wrap up a two-year tour that had completely taken over their lives.
The final performance took place in Vancouver on December 8.
Before the final performance, she shared that she’s looking forward to having more free time after everything wraps up, and getting back to hobbies and activities she’s had to put aside.
I used to enjoy things and be someone outside of work, but honestly, I’ve forgotten what those things were. For the past six months, all my energy has been focused on getting ready for today.
It feels like I’ve been waiting anxiously for almost two years, hoping everyone on the tour would stay safe and unharmed. Now that it’s over, I’m just incredibly relieved and grateful.

In the fourth episode of the docuseries, she openly discussed her heartbreak during the Eras Tour and revealed how her mother and Travis Kelce helped her find happiness again when she believed she wouldn’t find love again.
You know, everyone sees the glamour of a world tour – mine ran from March 2023 to December 2024 – but what people don’t see is how challenging it can be on a personal level. It definitely keeps you going, but it’s not always easy balancing everything behind the scenes.
She admitted there were times during the tour when it was the only thing helping her cope with life.
It wasn’t the difficulty of the tour itself that made me want to stop, but rather personal issues. I actually went through two breakups during the first half of it, which was really tough.
People quickly interpreted her statements as references to her breakups with both actor Joe Alwyn, 34, after over six years together, and Matty Healy of The 1975, whom she dated briefly following the split from Alwyn.
She shared this surprising truth with a playful but fierce smile: ‘You can always rely on the Eras Tour, but men will disappoint you.’
Taylor Swift shared that the Eras Tour was incredibly important for her mental health, giving her a reason to keep going and a sense of purpose during a difficult time.
Honestly, touring hasn’t been the difficult part of my life. It’s actually given me a sense of purpose and helped me cope with everything else that was going on.
She shared that working on her eleventh album, The Tortured Poets Department, was a way for her to cope with difficult experiences.
My album, ‘Tortured Poets,’ feels like a way to release all the negative emotions I’ve been holding onto for the past two years. I went through a difficult period, and these songs are a reflection of that experience.
I often feel invisible, like I’m seen as an image or a collection of traits rather than a real person, especially when I’m dating. It’s like men don’t see me at all.
Honestly, it felt like everything was just… failing. Absolutely nothing was going right, and it was this crushing feeling like I was completely alone, like there wasn’t a single person in the world who understood or cared. It was awful, just… utterly hopeless.
Surprisingly, even while dealing with a difficult breakup, the tour led to her current relationship with her fiancé, Kelce.
In the documentary series, Taylor shared that her mom, Andrea Swift, noticed news stories about Travis Kelce’s podcast, where the 36-year-old football player mentioned he’d hoped to give Taylor a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it.
Andrea quickly called her cousin, who was the family’s go-to person for all things Kansas City Chiefs. He confirmed that Kelce was a genuinely kind person and very close to his mother.
Bells went off in Andrea’s head as she considered how to get her daughter to meet him.

Taylor remembered her mom starting the conversation with a hesitant tone, saying something like, ‘I have some news, and I know you might not be thrilled…’ before mentioning a guy. Her mom then quickly added, ‘He’s really cute!’
Taylor added, ‘You said something to the effect of like you gotta start doing something different.’
She ended the story with a laugh, saying she never would have believed her most important relationship would begin with someone complaining about her not wanting to go on a date with him. It was truly unbelievable!
The couple went public in September 2023 and announced their engagement in August 2024.
