Are you ready for it?
On a Tuesday, Taylor Swift, who has won a Grammy, once more caused a stir online – this time by announcing her engagement to Travis Kelce, a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs football team. After two years together, their relationship now echoes one of Swift’s most iconic love songs: “you were meant for me.
According to Swift’s Instagram post on August 26th, her English teacher and gym teacher are going to get married. This announcement was made in conjunction with a part of her song ‘So High School.’ She shared pictures showing Kelce proposing to her in a beautiful garden setting, images of them in a warm hug, and a detailed shot of the ring. The ring, as reported by People, is an “Old Mine brilliant cut” designed by Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry.

The engagement news arrives as football season commences for Kelce, following a series of significant summer announcements from the popular artist. On August 12th, she unveiled that her upcoming 12th studio album will be titled “The Life of a Showgirl” during an interview on the podcast “New Heights,” which is hosted by her fiancé Jason Kelce, former Philadelphia Eagles center, and his brother. The album, set for release on October 3rd, is preceded by 2024’s “The Tortured Poets Department” and features 12 songs that delve into her tour-related experiences.
Swift explained on “New Heights” that she aimed to highlight every facet of the tour’s experience. She chose to use an offstage moment for the album cover main image because the album primarily focuses on her experiences away from the stage, rather than what transpired on it.
Swift spoke about her relationship with Kelce in TIME’s 2023 Person of the Year article. She said that she was drawn in when Kelce mentioned on his podcast that he wanted to meet her, following his unsuccessful attempt to give her a handmade bracelet at a 2023 concert. “This whole thing kicked off when Travis sweetly called me out on his podcast,” Swift told TIME. “We began spending time together shortly after that. It’s fortunate that we had some private moments, which I appreciate because it allowed us to become better acquainted. By the time I attended my first game with him, we were already a couple. Some people might think they saw our first date at that game, but rest assured, we wouldn’t have been reckless enough to stage a first date like that.
She’s drawn a fresh following towards the games, as she explained to TIME: “When a relationship is public, it means I get to witness him pursuing what he loves, we support each other, others are present, and we don’t mind,” she says. “On the contrary, if a relationship is kept private, one must go to great lengths to ensure no one discovers you’re dating. But in our case, we’re happy for each other.
