Taylor Sheridan has outdone himself with his latest Western drama for Paramount+. The first episode of The Madison, a sequel to Yellowstone, was viewed 8 million times globally within the first ten days of its release on March 14th. This makes it Sheridan’s most popular series premiere to date.
Just to be clear, The Madison is Taylor Sheridan’s strongest series debut overall, but it wasn’t his most-watched premiere. That record still belongs to Season 2 of Landman, which received 9.2 million views within its first two days. While the other Yellowstone spin-off, Marshals, hit 9.2 million views on its first day, it’s hard to directly compare traditional TV viewership to streaming numbers. Also, Taylor Sheridan isn’t the creator of Marshals – that credit goes to Spencer Hudnut.
What Is The Madison About?
I recently heard about a movie called The Madison, and it sounds incredible. People are saying it’s a really moving story about dealing with loss and finding connection with others, all wrapped up in a beautiful love story. It focuses on a family, the Clyburns, with Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell playing the parents. They’re New Yorkers who decide to start over and move to Montana’s Madison Valley – it seems like a story about change and finding strength in tough times.
I’ve been really captivated by The Madison – it feels different from Taylor Sheridan’s other Yellowstone stories. What I love is that it doesn’t stick to just one place; it beautifully weaves together narratives from both Montana and New York City. And honestly, it feels more personal and focused on the characters’ inner lives than anything else he’s done – it’s a really intimate experience.
The Madison Season 1 is set for six episodes. Paramount+ has already renewed the show for Season 2.
The cast features Pfeiffer, Russell, Beau Garrett, Elle Chapman, Patrick J. Adams, Amiah Miller, Alaina Pollack, Ben Schnetzer, Kevin Zegers, Rebecca Spence, Danielle Vasinova, and Matthew Fox, along with a second appearance by Amiah Miller.
She described the project as a dream come true, expressing her gratitude and long-held desire to work with Taylor Sheridan. She shared that she met him during the screen test and actively pursued the role, successfully landing it. Production is currently underway in Montana, a location she found incredibly beautiful and welcoming. She’s confident viewers will enjoy the show.
