After Taylor Frankie Paul’s domestic violence scandal came to light, five contestants from her season of The Bachelorette are reportedly exploring the possibility of suing the show for removing their episodes.
The season was canceled shortly before it was supposed to begin after a disturbing video from 2023 came to light. The video showed the 31-year-old woman physically attacking her boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, who was 33 at the time, and their young daughter, Indy, was reportedly present.
Following Paul’s act of throwing a stool at Mortensen, eight-year-old Indy began to cry. Mortensen then exclaimed, ‘Your daughter was just hit in the head by a chair!’
In 2023, Paul, a mother of three, was arrested following a reported domestic dispute. A video from the incident played a key role in the case, and she later pleaded guilty to a third-degree aggravated assault charge.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following this situation for quite some time. It’s been an open secret for years that there were past issues. Recently, another investigation started regarding an alleged incident from February. Just yesterday, a restraining order was granted to Mortensen, who described Paul as a direct and immediate danger to her well-being.
I’m hearing some crazy news! Apparently, five of the guys from the latest season of The Bachelorette are thinking about suing ABC and Warner Bros Discovery, the people who make the show. Sources are telling TMZ they’re seriously considering legal action, which is wild to me!
The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for ABC and Warner Bros Discovery for comment.
People who were competing for the job believe Warner Bros Discovery put them in an uncomfortable situation by making them work closely with Paul.
These men put their lives on hold—some even quit their jobs—hoping to become well-known. However, because the TV episodes they filmed were canceled, that fame will now never happen.
ABC, a part of Disney Entertainment Television, announced it would not continue with the current season of The Bachelorette shortly after video of a domestic violence incident became public.
Disney stated its priority is families after deciding to cancel the 22nd season of its reality show, which had been scheduled to premiere on March 22nd.
The canceled season will reportedly cost the network a staggering $28 million.
The video showing the fight between Paul and her ex-boyfriend has gone viral. In it, Paul can be seen angrily throwing a stool at Mortensen while her eight-year-old daughter, Indy, was nearby.
Mortensen, who was filming the incident, said in the clip: ‘This is called physical abuse.’
It was a really tense situation, and honestly, heartbreaking. I could hear a child crying in the background while the argument between Mortensen and Paul was still going on. Then, Mortensen said something that just stopped everyone – he told Paul that their daughter had been hit in the head by a metal chair. It was a shocking moment, and immediately shifted the focus from the fight to the child’s well-being.
Together, they have a son named Ever, who is two years old.
The reality TV personality, known from Hulu’s The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, has publicly stated she endured years of ‘severe mental and physical abuse and threats’ without speaking out.
Taylor is now feeling empowered to confront the person who harmed her and is taking action to keep herself and her children safe from future harm.
Paul’s spokesperson stated that many women are quietly enduring hardship after leaving controlling, possessive ex-partners who won’t accept the end of the relationship.
They also stated that Paul has remained silent because she fears continued mistreatment, repercussions, and embarrassment, and is now getting help, considering her choices, and getting ready to publicly reveal what happened to her.
New accusations of domestic assault could create additional legal problems for Paul, potentially affecting the outcome of her 2023 case.
Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill said his office is investigating whether the recent assault allegations represent a violation of the terms of her current probation related to a previous case.
According to Gill, they’ve received the police report about the recent allegations, and the Draper City prosecutor is now reviewing the case to determine if charges will be filed.
We asked for the police report to help our lawyers determine if the new claims could impact the defendant’s existing probation.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following this story closely, and I can tell you that Mortensen has now publicly refuted what he calls ‘false claims’ circulating about him and his relationship. He recently released a statement to The Daily Mail addressing these rumors directly.
He released a statement saying the video is deeply disturbing, and he strongly denies the false claims being made about him and his relationship. He added that he’s unfortunately become accustomed to these kinds of accusations.
‘I am focusing on our son and his safety, and hope that Taylor will do the same.’
On Thursday, through a representative, Paul expressed her deep gratitude for the support ABC has provided, explaining that her main focus right now is ensuring her family’s safety and well-being.
The Daily Mail has previously reached out to representatives for Paul and ABC for further comment.
