Tate McRae models bikinis for Rolling Stone as she talks her Kid Laroi split and feisty alter-ego Tatiana

Singer Tate McRae is making a huge impact on the music scene, and she’s showing no signs of slowing down. She’ll be featured on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine in January 2026.

Oh my gosh, she’s absolutely stunning! I mean, seeing her in that heart-print bikini… seriously, she looks incredible! Every curve is just… perfect. And her hair! That warm, golden-brown color, like she’s always been kissed by the sun. Those little strands blowing across her face? It’s just… breathtaking. I can’t stop looking!

I’m absolutely captivated by Doja Cat’s latest photos! There’s one where she looks incredible in a coral pink bikini – she just radiates confidence. Then, she posted this stunning shot where she’s posing like a lioness, hands under her chin, in another gorgeous bikini. And honestly, the picture of her confidently hanging from a pole in jeans and a tight top? Iconic. She’s really owning her power and it’s amazing to see!

McRae enjoyed a hugely successful year. Her third album, ‘So Close to What,’ reached the top of the Billboard 200 chart upon its release in February, and her ‘Miss Possessive’ arena tour, which ran from March to November 2025, grossed an impressive $111 million.

I’ve been following her career closely, and this article really gives you a peek into everything she’s been up to! It covers so much – from her bold, energetic side as Tatiana, to the story behind her breakup with The Kid Laroi, which clearly fueled her amazing song ‘Tit for Tat.’ Then there’s her surprising collaboration with Morgan Wallen, and even a look into her interest in psychics and holistic healing. It’s a really comprehensive look at who she is beyond the music.

Okay, so everyone sees Tate McRae as this total powerhouse on stage, right? Like, confident and fearless. But honestly? She told Rolling Stone she’s actually super sensitive and a total introvert! It’s wild. She says she spends a lot of time thinking and feeling things deeply. But then, the moment she steps into the spotlight, it’s like a switch flips and ‘Tatiana’ – this other, bolder version of her – completely takes over. It’s amazing, honestly. Like she transforms!

She explained that she began losing consciousness while performing and transforming into someone unrecognizable, even to those closest to her. She felt desperate to understand why it was happening.

I’ve realized something that explains why I feel comfortable speaking to huge crowds, but get anxious around just a few people. It’s a strange feeling, but I think I’m starting to understand it.

I’ve always seen Tate as a really thoughtful, sensitive guy – quite introverted and a little awkward, honestly. He’s Canadian, and just naturally a bit shy. I’m a very internal person myself, always lost in my own thoughts. So, the confident, outgoing persona everyone sees? That’s something I created – my way of expressing myself and feeling powerful, almost like a character I play.

McRae experienced a breakout year with her tour proving hugely popular, selling over a million tickets globally and completely selling out major venues like Madison Square Garden and The Kia Forum.

Looking back at the person she was when she began writing songs for this album – her third – she feels like a different person. ‘It’s like I’ve aged a decade in the last year,’ she explained.

Her incredible success has come with a lot of unwanted attention on her personal life, particularly the intense public interest in her relationship and recent breakup with The Kid Laroi, which happened in July after roughly a year together.

It was incredibly frightening and a lot to handle. I would never speak about anyone’s personal life like that, not even my friends’. I didn’t expect it to impact me so much, having my private life become public – and it’s frustrating because no one ever truly knows the complete truth about anything.

It bothers me when people exaggerate things or make them seem more negative than they are. But I’ve come to accept that he and I both express ourselves through music – it’s how we create art and earn a living. Once a song is released, though, I have no control over how it’s interpreted – it’s no longer mine.

Ernest and Lainey Wilson teamed up for the country song “What I Want,” which will be featured on Ernest’s 2025 album, “I’m the Problem.” This collaboration is both artists’ first time recording a duet together, and it became Lainey Wilson’s first song to reach number one on the charts.

She faced criticism for collaborating with someone who had recently been involved in controversy – first for making a racist remark in 2021, and more recently for being arrested in April 2024 for throwing a chair from the roof of a Nashville bar.

McRae shared with Rolling Stone that country music is incredibly popular in his hometown. He grew up with a brother who was a huge fan, and he’s always hoped to explore folk or country music himself, something he still plans to do eventually.

I recently had the chance to record a country song, which I thought was a fun opportunity. I was really eager to try a different music style, and ultimately, the song itself was what mattered most to me. I didn’t expect how much the song would be tied to everything else surrounding it, and that was a bit of a surprise.

McRae also revealed how ‘really special’ it was to be recognized by her singing idol Taylor Swift.

Taylor Swift appeared on The Tonight Show and praised Olivia Rodrigo’s song ‘tit for tat,’ calling it ‘really good’ and sharing that she listens to it ‘full volume, over and over again.’

‘I’m such a massive fan, and I adore her,’ McRae said of The Life of a Showgirl hitmaker.

Seeing that she’d mentioned it on her phone was an amazing feeling. She’s a huge inspiration to me, both as a writer and as a woman working in this field, so her acknowledgment meant a lot.

In the cover story, McRae also addressed the controversy over the upside-down mic.

A video from a Canadian singer’s October 31st concert went viral, leading to accusations that she was lip-syncing. The video appeared to show her singing into the wrong end of her microphone while her vocals continued to play.

McRae noted that it’s easy for things to be misinterpreted online, and having a sense of humor is essential to stay sane.

It’s amusing to me because I really pour my heart and soul into my performances. I’m always singing, except for the normal moments when I’m moving around or having a little dance break – things everyone does during a show!

I started singing just a couple of seconds after, but they immediately stopped the recording. I realized it was hopeless to even try and explain myself, because there were just too many issues to address.

McRae does have a plan on where she wants to be years from now and it involves Italy.

She said she’s hoping to finish her current commitments, then move to Italy and relax. ‘That’s the plan,’ she added.
