Taskmaster’s Lucy Beaumont lands new BBC TV role
As a die-hard comedy enthusiast who’s been following the comedic landscape for years, I couldn’t be more thrilled to learn about Lucy Beaumont taking on the role of presenter for the BBC New Comedy Awards 2024! Her journey in the world of humor has been nothing short of captivating, and it’s a delight to see her sharing the stage with budding talents.
Taskmaster star Lucy Beaumont has landed a new BBC TV role.
The comic has been scheduled to host the concluding BBC New Comedy Awards 2024, broadcast on BBC One on November 13th.
Beaumont expressed his enthusiasm about hosting the BBC New Comedy Awards 2024. He recalled the thrill of starting out in comedy and felt privileged to perform alongside promising newcomers who are embarking on what promises to be a successful journey within the entertainment industry.
At the Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham, the final six comedians will face off in a competition during the upcoming event. The winner will receive a paid opportunity to create and perform a 30-minute audio pilot, along with a trophy, £1,000, and a performance slot on Red Nose Day next year.
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be among the selected few, including Dane Buckley, Paul Hilleard, Maia Tassalini, Marty Gleeson, and two more yet-to-be-unveiled contestants, who will compete for the prestigious title. This exciting opportunity has been bestowed upon us by a distinguished panel headed by Babatunde Aléshé from “Taskmaster.
Aleshé remarked, “We’ve traveled extensively and encountered some truly outstanding skills. Out of the impressive 30 semi-finalists, we’re now left with six. Choosing the ultimate winner will be challenging, but I’m genuinely thrilled about it.
This past year has been nothing short of amazing for last year’s winner Joe Kent-Walters, better known as Frankie Monroe. His life has undergone transformations he could previously only imagine. In the final, he is set to perform as well, and shared: “This experience has been incredibly rewarding.
“It’s still such a surreal feeling, it took a while to sink in that I had won. I think the icing on the cake to round it all off will be performing at this year’s grand final and handing the baton on to this year’s winner.”
The BBC New Comedy Awards 2024 final will air on November 13 on BBC One and iPlayer. Taskmaster airs on Thursdays at 9pm, airing and streaming on Channel 4. A Junior Taskmaster spinoff has been confirmed.
