Taskmaster star’s beloved show axed after 15 years and 19 seasons

I can’t contain my excitement as I share this news with fellow fans – after an incredible 15-year run, “A League of Their Own” is wrapping up after 19 seasons, with season 20 on the horizon! What a journey it has been!

8 Years ago, a comedy panel show with a sports theme started airing and was initially hosted by James Corden from “Gavin & Stacey” for several years. Later on, in 2020, it was Romesh Ranganathan, known for “Taskmaster” and “The Weakest Link”, who took over the hosting duties.

From the outset, Jamie Redknapp has served as captain for the red team, whereas Freddie Flintoff previously captained the blue team before Jill Scott assumed that role. Regular panelists have included comedians such as John Bishop and Jack Whitehall, with Mo Gilligan and commentator Micah Richards more recently joining their ranks.

After 15 years and 19 thrilling seasons, it’s now the final round for more mayhem, insanity, and endless amusement – Sky announces the last hurrah of A League of Their Own, season 20, arriving later this year.

Viewers expressed deep disappointment with the news, labeling it as one of the most hilarious television series around.

Audience members seized the chance to propose suggestions for the last season, such as reappearing Corden, a boxer, and former “I’m a Celebrity” cast member Tony Bellew for their swan songs.

It has been proposed that additional seasons should be made available for streaming (at present, only the latest four seasons and some special episodes can be streamed via NOW/Sky).

Previously, Ranganathan and comedian Rob Beckett appeared in the soap opera ‘Hollyoaks’, during its swan song episodes from an earlier period. Their participation, which included performing some stunts in a fight sequence, was showcased in the series titled “Rob and Romesh Vs“.

Sky Max is set to bring back A League of Their Own later in the year. If you can’t wait, some past episodes are available for streaming on Sky or NOW.
