Taskmaster favourite says ‘no one knew the extent’ of viral new show that took over streaming charts

Fan-adored comedian Sara Pascoe revealed that the impressive roster of competitors in the fresh Prime Video show “Last One Laughing” was concealed from participants.

On March 20th, the comedy series made its debut on our streaming platform. Originally based on a Japanese concept, it has gained popularity across various nations and now presents its unique UK edition following its success elsewhere.

In this scenario, a group of ten comedians are aiming to elicit laughter from their peers, all the while keeping a straight face during progressively absurd skits.

When discussing the show’s allure, Pascoe, a main cast member from the UK version, mentioned that the producers increased suspense by keeping the identities of the guests secret.

“It was an amazing group of people,” Pascoe told Metro.

She stated that they preferred to keep hidden the identities of the other participants. Consequently, only a few among us had casual acquaintances with a handful of others as we’d shared this information with friends. However, no one had a comprehensive understanding of just how impressive the line-up truly was.

Amazon aimed to surprise the comedian by having them feel caught off guard with the impressive cast for this season. The star-studded ensemble includes Richard Ayoade, Roisin Conaty, Daisy May Cooper, Judi Love, and Joe Lycett, along with several other notable figures.

According to Pascoe, what they aimed for was an impression that we were caught off guard and at a disadvantage. If we had been aware of their plan earlier, he suggested, some of the charm or surprise might have been diminished.

The show, hosted by Jimmy Carr, has been a popular hit on Prime Video, reaching the top spot on the platform as early as April.

As reported by Metro, the initial three episodes of Last One Laughing UK attracted 2.9 million, 2.5 million, and 2.4 million viewers respectively.

The show titled “Last One Laughing” was originally based on a Japanese program called “Documental“. Versions of this comedy series have been broadcast in nations such as Canada, Brazil, Ireland, Germany, and Italy.
