Taron Egerton’s recent crime thriller quietly impressed audiences in theaters and is now a major hit on streaming platforms. It’s quickly gained popularity following its online release and is now appearing on top charts in many countries. In the United States, the movie is currently a top 10 title on MGM+.
According to data from FlixPatrol, the movie She Rides Shotgun is currently a top 10 hit on Prime Video in 22 countries. It’s doing particularly well in Romania, where it’s the second most popular movie on the platform. In the U.S., you can find it ranked eighth on MGM+.
In the action thriller She Rides Shotgun, Taron Egerton plays Nate McClusky, a man recently released from prison who finds himself hunted by those he wronged. He’s tasked with protecting his 11-year-old daughter, Polly (played by Ana Sohia Heger), whom he hasn’t been close to. With limited help and supplies, Nate must prepare Polly for a dangerous journey, teaching her how to defend herself, while she unexpectedly teaches him a valuable lesson of her own.
Released briefly in August, the film She Rides Shotgun didn’t perform well in theaters. However, critics generally liked it, with one site calling it a “gritty thriller with strong emotional depth.” They also praised the performances of Taron Egerton and Ana Sophia Heger, noting that they brought energy to an otherwise difficult film.
Although Egerton’s acting was well-received, Heger truly stood out. A review in the Los Angeles Times of She Rides Shotgun highlighted Heger, age 11, calling their performance in a challenging role “absolute conviction.”
Vulture’s review agreed, highlighting how the story centers on a frightened young girl’s transformation into a resilient and ultimately heartbreaking hero through an unexpected adventure. The film’s power, the review explained, comes from vividly portraying her fear, happiness, anger, and eventual pain, making She Rides Shotgun a truly memorable experience.
Viewers are really enjoying She Rides Shotgun. It currently has a 91% positive rating on the Popcornmeter, likely because many people are finding it on streaming services.
