Taron Egerton’s Christmas thriller sets new Netflix record
As a seasoned gamer and movie buff with a penchant for thrillers, I can confidently say that Taron Egerton’s latest offering, “Carry-On”, has truly outdone itself on Netflix. With its gripping plot set against the backdrop of Christmas Eve in an airport, it’s like a rollercoaster ride that keeps you on the edge of your seat.
In just a few days following its debut, Taron Egerton’s latest Christmas suspense film titled “Carry-On” has broken records on Netflix.
The film, taking place on Christmas Eve, revolves around a TSA officer engaged in an intellectually stimulating game of wits with an enigmatic passenger. After being coerced, this agent must find a way to thwart the passage of a potentially hazardous item past security.
From its debut on Friday (December 13), “Carry-On” has set the record for the most successful opening of a Netflix movie this year, as reported by the streaming service. It managed to enter the top 10 in 93 countries and even led the English film chart with an impressive 42 million views.
Additionally, in this movie, you’ll find Egerton joined by Jason Bateman, Sofia Carson, Danielle Deadwyler, Theo Rossi, Logan Marshall-Green, Sinqua Walls, and Dean Norris on screen. Jaume Collet-Serra, who previously directed Non-Stop, is the one in charge of directing this film.
Regarding the movie, the director shared his thoughts on why creating thrillers within limited settings like an airport can be advantageous.
restricted settings make it necessary for us to familiarize ourselves swiftly and intimately with the film’s characters – we’re plunged right into their story from the start, resulting in a sincere interest in the events unfolding on screen, as expressed by Collet-Serra to Tudum.
As a filmmaker, it’s equally thrilling to devise imaginative methods for capturing every square inch of a limited space, aiming to present it in unique ways and discover fresh aspects of the world within each frame.
This festive season, Netflix has added several new films to its collection, such as “Carry-On”, along with titles like “Hot Frosty”, “Our Little Secret”, “The Merry Gentlemen”, and “That Christmas”.
Meanwhile, updates on holiday film ratings: The cinematic disappointment Red One, starring Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans, has surprised everyone by thriving as a popular streaming choice on Amazon Prime Video. In its debut weekend alone, it was watched by an astonishing 50 million viewers.
Carry-On is available to stream now on Netflix.
