Taron Egerton’s action flop that “robs you of two hours” climbs Netflix trending chart

Robin Hood, the flop action film starring Taron Egerton, has climbed Netflix’s trending chart.

In 2018, a movie was released as a modern adaptation of the well-known English folklore character (portrayed by Egerton), who comes back from the Third Crusade to discover that his native town, Nottingham, is under the control of a merciless sheriff (Ben Mendelsonn).

With Friar Tuck (Tim Minchin) and Little John (Jamie Foxx) joining forces, Robin Hood and his band of downtrodden rebels devise a strategy to seize the Sheriff’s wealth and authority, simultaneously improving their own community in the process.

Featuring Jamie Dornan and Eve Hewson, Otto Bathurst’s movie initially failed to make an impact during its cinema debut. However, since its addition to Netflix on Sunday, it has experienced a second chance at success.

Currently, Robin Hood is ranked second in the movie charts of the streaming service, surpassed in viewership on a single day only by Matt Damon’s Downsizing (as reported by FlixPatrol).

Initially, this movie failed to impress at the box office, earning just $86 million despite a production cost of $100 million. Critics were also unimpressed, giving it a dismal approval rating of only 14% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 166 reviews.

According to Rolling Stone, the movie “Robin Hood” has managed to secure a spot among this year’s worst films by stealing a staggering two hours from viewers. Taron Egerton and Jamie Foxx find themselves swallowed up by this noxious Thanksgiving turkey that in no way warrants a reprieve.

The film wasn’t at all what I agreed to create. It was presented to me in a different light.

The actor, known for his roles in “Rocketman” and “Kingsman”, expressed his feelings about the project, saying, “I believe it was collectively created and strayed from its original concept. I wasn’t particularly pleased during filming. It wasn’t a joyful experience making it.

Robin Hood is streaming on Netflix.
