Taron Egerton addresses return for sequel to Netflix hit
As a die-hard fan of gripping thrillers and captivating performances, I must admit that Taron Egerton‘s latest Netflix offering, Carry-On, has left me absolutely spellbound! The movie’s success is a testament to Egerton’s versatility as an actor, showcasing his ability to tackle diverse roles with panache.
Taron Egerton has addressed the possibility of a sequel to his new Netflix thriller Carry-On.
In the movie, the actor known for his roles in Kingsman is portrayed as TSA agent Ethan Kopek. This character finds himself in a tricky situation when an enigmatic traveler coerces him into allowing a potentially harmful item to bypass security and board a flight on Christmas Day.
Since its premiere on December 13th, “Carry-On” has set the record for the highest opening for any Netflix movie this year. It managed to secure a spot in the top 10 of an impressive 93 countries and even claimed the number one position among English films with a staggering 42 million views.
During a recent appearance on US talk show Today, Egerton said he would “be open” to returning for a sequel if the storyline was right.
He said, “It seems we might require something exceptionally fresh and original to make a sequel feel fitting, given the unique situation. However, in principle, it’s possible.
The actor added that sequels “work for Die Hard, so who knows?”.
He also praised his Carry-On co-star Sofia Carson, saying he “really loved working [with] such a lovely person and brilliant actress”.
“If there ever was a sequel… it’d be interesting to see what she’s up to,” he added.
In addition to Chris Hemsworth, the cast of “Carry-On” includes Jason Bateman, Danielle Deadwyler, Theo Rossi, Logan Marshall-Green, Sinqua Walls, and Dean Norris.
In another project, Egerton has just secured a part working alongside Charlize Theron for the upcoming Netflix suspense film titled Apex.
In this upcoming movie, an actor will portray a stalking psychopath who pursues Theron’s thrill-seeking rock climber during her perilous wilderness adventure. Baltasar Kormákur is at the helm of the project, with Jeremy Robbins having penned the script. For now, additional information about the film remains confidential.
Carry-On is available to stream now on Netflix.
