For Tara Reid, the last few weeks have been devastating.
She has been the subject of a very public probe. The question? ‘Was she or wasn’t she drugged.’
Tara received news today that the police have finished investigating whether her drink was spiked while she was at a hotel in Illinois.
Investigators decided there wasn’t enough proof to proceed. Now, the actress from American Pie has spoken about the emotional pain she’s experienced, saying she was severely bullied.
In an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail, Tara said: ‘It was a truly heartbreaking experience.
The constant bullying and people misrepresenting what happened – things they didn’t even see themselves – is really hurting my mental health, and I need it to stop.
In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, the star of American Pie, age 50, explained that security footage from that night doesn’t cover her entire time in the bar – there’s a 33-minute gap where her location isn’t recorded.
Tara says she’s been deeply upset and worried about her mental health since the incident. Although police investigated what happened at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel near O’Hare Airport last month, they closed the case due to a lack of evidence. Importantly, police clarified this wasn’t because they doubted her drink had been tampered with.

Tara explained that she’s often not visible on camera, and there are periods with no recording at all. Additionally, the camera frequently jumps forward by anywhere from five to thirty seconds – or even longer – causing important details of events to be missed.
I’ve received all the police footage, and it clearly shows I was perfectly okay when I got there. I ordered a glass of wine, left it at the bar, and went outside to smoke, just like I said.
Okay, so let me explain what I remember. I stepped away from the camera for about ten minutes. Before going outside to smoke again, I grabbed my wine glass with me. Looking back at the footage, it’s clear I only had two glasses of wine during the whole thirty minutes I was inside before going out that second time. And honestly, when I came back in, I was completely different – a totally noticeable change in how I was acting. It’s really undeniable.
People are portraying the situation as if I quickly drank a lot of wine and needed medical attention, but that’s not accurate based on the video evidence.
I saw in the video footage that when I returned from having a cigarette, I’d only had one sip of wine in over half an hour. When the bartender offered me another drink, I shook my head because I still had most of my first one.
A new witness has emerged, raising doubts about a YouTuber’s story that Tara was interested in him romantically. The Daily Mail has obtained information about this development.
Kathy Lain, who works as both a flight attendant and a nurse, witnessed the incident while she was staying at the Doubletree Hotel in Chicago during a layover.
According to a statement given to the Daily Mail, Kathy described a concerning interaction she witnessed. She said a man was very close to a woman, who appeared disoriented and struggled to keep her head up. The woman then stated, very directly, that the man seemed interested in a sexual encounter with her. The man replied with a simple ‘Maybe.’ This response seemed to alarm the woman, and she immediately asked the bartender to call security. When the bartender checked if she was serious, she confirmed that she was.

Tara confirmed the police have finished their investigation, but they’re keeping the case open in case new information surfaces.
As a lifestyle expert, I often deal with sensitive situations, and I want to share how a police officer explained things to someone recently. He basically said they’d really dug deep into what happened at the hotel that night – they interviewed everyone they could, reviewed all available video footage, and thoroughly investigated everything. He wanted to be clear that while they’d done everything possible, they weren’t dismissing the possibility that something did happen.
Based on our investigation, including interviews and video evidence, we haven’t found enough information to file charges against anyone right now.
The police told Tara that they would investigate any new information she might provide about the case.
Tara has been going through a really difficult time. She feels she was treated badly, but is taking things one step at a time. She says hotel camera footage now seems to confirm she hadn’t had enough to drink.
Tara was upset that staff at Resurrection Medical Center in Rosemont, Illinois, didn’t perform blood or alcohol tests on her. She was also angry about the report she received this week, which claimed she was screaming, shouting, and even fell out of bed – claims she disputes.
She shared with the Daily Mail that she was very upset to learn the hospital hadn’t tested her blood alcohol level or for any drugs.
I didn’t receive an IV at any point. According to my medical records, I was extremely distressed, screaming and disoriented, and around 3 a.m., I fell out of bed and needed a CT scan.

‘I do not remember any this.’
The actress simply wants the truth to be known, as she’s deeply upset by what she believes are false and damaging rumors spreading about her.
She also claims that she has been bullied because events of the night have been twisted.
She told the Daily Mail she was sharing her story to ensure people understood what really happened and how deeply upsetting it was.
It’s horrifying to think about being a woman who has a drink and then wakes up in a hospital gown after 12 hours, with no memory of what happened, only to discover videos of your vulnerable state are circulating worldwide.
Watching the hour-and-21-minute video would make it clear that something was wrong.
Tara is grateful though, grateful to the people who have supported her through this.
I’m so grateful to everyone who has supported me and checked in on me – your kindness has meant the world during this difficult time.
I wouldn’t have made it through this without your support, and I’m truly grateful. Everyone, please be careful with your drinks and aware of what’s happening around you. If you think something isn’t right, or you’ve been drugged, please don’t hesitate to ask for help.
What feels true for me is my own experience, and right now I’m asking for your support, privacy, and understanding as I go through a difficult time and focus on healing. I also want to be clear that I’ve never publicly blamed or suggested anyone was involved.
I don’t recall what happened, so I couldn’t possibly say. I wouldn’t want to accuse anyone without being certain, which is why I reported it to the police – hoping they can investigate and find out the truth.
I’ve gained valuable insight from this experience, and my biggest hope is that it raises awareness about this issue, which affects people globally. I want others to be more cautious, and I sincerely hope sharing my story can prevent someone else from going through something similar.
