As a long-time fan of SWAT, I must admit that this season is keeping me on the edge of my seat! The personal storyline for Tan in episode 5 of season 8 has me hooked. It’s not every day you see your favorite characters dealing with something so close to home.

In the eighth season’s fifth episode of SWAT, Tan is given a character-driven plot that could require him to momentarily distance himself from the ongoing case, as it pertains to his significant other.

There’s still little that we know about Olivia. She’s a journalist, and she’s received awards for her work. She started off as a casual fling for Tan, who was coming off the back of a divorce. By episode 11 of season 7, she became his girlfriend.

Tan needs to find Olivia in SWAT season 8, episode 5

Whenever someone dear to me finds themselves in distress, I prioritize lending a helping hand. In this particular instance, I rally 20-Squad to aid me in locating Olivia once she’s been taken captive.

It seems that we’ve uncovered links to a criminal organization, and our task is to identify the head of this group. However, achieving that won’t be as straightforward as it sounds.

I’m curious about who might be the target of this retaliation. Could this action potentially lead to Tan? Is there a connection to an older case involving him? While it’s plausible, keep in mind that Olivia is a journalist. She may have made enemies along the way or perhaps she’s been undercover for a story and now the truth has surfaced. It’s also possible that this cartel is targeting her directly.

It seems that due to the current circumstances, Tan is unable to participate in the case. While his team members are dressed in uniform at the headquarters, Tan is in civilian attire. Given the highly personal nature of this situation, it’s understandable why he might need to step aside to avoid potential bias or making unwise decisions.
