If you’ve checked Overwatch 2‘s social media lately, you might have noticed the game’s logo has been replaced with the Talon symbol. What does this mean? Here’s a breakdown of what we know so far.
Overwatch 2 gets taken over by Talon
On January 23rd, the official social media accounts for Overwatch 2 – including Instagram, Facebook, and X – were taken over by Talon, a villainous group from the game’s story. An email sent to Xpsp suggests this takeover might be connected to an upcoming event called Vendetta.
The email said that after winning Season 20, Vendetta’s success is likely to continue. We’ll find out more about Season 21 in the coming weeks.
The email also had a brief question-and-answer section with unclear answers, hinting that an important announcement might be coming soon. You can find the Q&A below.
I’m going to go ahead and answer a few of your questions now, sharing what I’m permitted to reveal.
- What is happening with Overwatch right now?
- It is Talon now. I shouldn’t say anything else…
- Why change the name to Talon?
- It’s too dangerous to explain that.
- Is this supposed to be on all Overwatch socials, storefronts, etc.?
- The change has been made across all Talon social channels, Battle.net, and in-game. Console storefronts won’t reflect this (don’t ask why. I really shouldn’t be talking about that either.).
- Is this leading to something bigger?
- Maybe? Who knows?
- Who is behind this? Is Vendetta involved?
- They’re watching me… I can’t say anything now.
- When will more info be revealed?

The official Overwatch 2 account on X also posted a video featuring Vendetta, who declared, “So. My reign begins.”

The video was then accompanied by images featuring the characters Vendetta, Reaper, Sombra, Widowmaker, Moira, Mauga, and Sigma.

Could we see a Talon event like the one previously offered in China? It’s possible, but only time will tell. One clue might be the recent announcement that Vendetta will be battling Talon, which could hint at a larger event in the works.
Vendetta’s father, Antonio Bartalotti, was murdered by Gabriel Reyes. Both men were part of Blackwatch, a secret division within Overwatch, alongside characters like Cassidy, Genji, and Moira. Later, Gabriel Reyes transformed into the villain known as Reaper and joined Talon, a group Moira also became a part of.
The Vendetta comic also revealed that Talon members Vialli and Doomfist stole her inheritance, and Vendetta subsequently sent a message to the organization.

Okay, so I’ve been thinking about these Talon teasers, and it’s hitting me that they might be connected to Emre. Remember that Freja comic? It totally showed Emre had ties to Talon. Apparently, he used to work with Reaper and Moira back in the day, which is pretty wild!
