Talon, Deadlock, and Hashimoto alliance revealed in major Overwatch lore drop

Widowmaker, Reaper, and Sombra have left Talon after Vendetta’s takeover.

Blizzard Entertainment has published a new digital comic called “Vengeance Comes,” continuing the story of Vendetta. It depicts what happens after Vendetta’s battle with Doomfist, and is narrated by Chiara Preziosi, the voice of Vendetta.

Overwatch Vengeance Comes story has Vendetta lead Talon

The latest Overwatch comic, “Vengeance Comes,” begins with Vendetta announcing she has taken back what is rightfully hers. She’s meeting with other Talon leaders – Moira, Maximilien, Mauga, and Domina – and declares that Talon will now operate openly, now that Doomfist is out of the picture. Vendetta then begins discussing Talon’s new partnerships, particularly interested in seeing how Domina’s Vishkar shield technology works in the Colosseo and elsewhere.

Widowmaker, Reaper, and Sombra leave Talon

Moira mentions that Widowmaker, Reaper, and Sombra all left Talon due to conflicts. This raises the question of whether Talon currently has enough agents to carry out a mission like infiltrating the Helix facility at Grand Mesa. Vendetta assures them that Maximilien is actively recruiting new members.

Recent developments show Ashe and her Deadlock Rebels taking control of Powder Keg Mine, offering support to Talon. Meanwhile, Vendetta is requesting that Mauga travel to Junkertown to discuss terms with the Junker Queen.

Emre and Freja are also involved; Freja will participate as long as Maximilien pays her share. Emre shared that a particular observation post wasn’t completely shut down when Overwatch fell apart, and the security team stationed there maintains a regular shift schedule.

Talon works with Hashimoto clan

Vendetta solidifies an alliance with the Hashimoto clan in Tokyo, but warns they’ll pull back support if the clan’s swordsmith doesn’t meet production goals. That swordsmith is Toshiro, who also happens to be Kiriko’s father and has ties to Mizuki, a new support hero. Mizuki is also part of Kiriko’s group of Yokai.

Before this comic was released, narrative designer Miranda Moyer shared that the hero is currently working undercover in Kanezaka with Kiriko and the Yokai. However, she also revealed this isn’t his first encounter with someone from Kiriko’s family.

Moyer explained that Kiriko’s father, Toshiro, has been a prisoner of the Hashimoto family for a long time, as established in a previous story. He hinted that this shared history might create a connection between Toshiro and Mizuki, which could then influence Toshiro’s relationship with Kiriko in future storylines.

Vendetta’s Talon versus Overwatch begins

For Vendetta, Overwatch is the final obstacle preventing her from achieving her goals. Moira also wonders about this, pointing out reports that the International Justice Commission is considering shutting down Overwatch now that the Null Sector threat has diminished.

“Overwatch isn’t gone,” Vendetta says. “They’ve rebuilt, and we need to stop them before they become too powerful.”

The comic concludes with a dramatic explosion. This feels similar to an explosion featured in the Ramattra and Zenyatta comic, and how it connected to that story’s character.

“I wasn’t going to do this, Max,” Vendetta replied. “I’ve already done it. It feels good to prove everyone wrong and become a conqueror they never expected. I was ignored and left behind, but now… everyone will know who I am.”
