Take A Look At The Skateroom’s Dreamlike Jim Jarmusch Collab
Renowned movie director, enigmatic art creator, and self-described nocturnal Jim Jarmusch is tricky to categorize. Yet, he has partnered with The Skateroom for the first time, offering an exclusive partnership that will be available for the next two days only.
As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but be captivated by the nocturnal roots of this deck’s artwork. Over four decades ago, under the cover of night, a visionary filmmaker found himself engrossed in the small hours, capturing a collection of images from classic black and white films on an old analog TV. These images were then stored away in archives until their reemergence today.
The outcome presents a strikingly straightforward yet charming montage with an eerie quality. Each set comprises a haphazardly selected trio of images. Similar to many of his pieces, the surreal story that connects one photograph to another is left for the observer to imagine.
In collaboration with Miami skateboarder Beatrice Domond, Jarmusch produced a monochrome short film to celebrate the launch. The video showcases Domond testing the skateboards as she navigates the streets of New York.
