What’s next for LoL esports?

Riot Games has announced that the League of Legends World Championship (Worlds) in 2026 will be held in Allen, Texas, and New York City. This marks the first time the event will be hosted in North America since 2022. The following year, in 2027, Worlds will return to Korea for the first time since 2018.

The League Championship Pacific (LCP) will be back in 2026 with some changes to how it works. The first two parts of the season will stay the same – each team plays every other team once in a best-of-three match. However, all playoff games will now be best-of-five. The third part of the season will introduce a Swiss Stage with both best-of-three and best-of-five matches. The top three teams will earn a spot at the 2026 League of Legends World Championship based on points earned throughout the year.

I’m so hyped for the League Championship Series to return! It’s coming back with some cool new stuff and even more games to watch. Things kick off on January 24th with the LCS Lock-In tournament, which will use the Fearless format and a Swiss Stage – sounds exciting! Then, we’ll have the Spring and Summer Splits with best-of-three matches, leading to a six-team playoff bracket. I can’t wait!
