T1 Oner: “I have never mentioned it, but if we win the title, I feel like I can do anything, I can achieve pretty much anything.”

T1’s Oner feels confident that they can accomplish any goal if they triumph at MSI 2025, considering their Chief Financial Officer a promising team with vast potential.

For the initial encounter at MSI 2025, powerhouses T1 and Flying Oyster (CFO) squared off in an intense five-game series. Against the odds, T1 edged out CFO with a thrilling 3-2 score, showcasing their resilience. In turn, CFO displayed they are prepared to test the mettle of top teams globally at this competition.

At esports.gg, we got a chance to chat with T1’s player Oner regarding their initial match, his debut international Zed jungle selection, Canadian cuisine, their rivals, and future contests.

The first international Zed jungle and the ongoing challenge of adapting to the demands of the global stage

As the undisputed favorites going into this gaming series, I had high hopes and was confident about my chances. However, I wasn’t entirely prepared for the closely contested matches that unfolded – they definitely kept me on my toes!

T1 Oner: Going into the match, we believed we would emerge victorious. However, it turned out to be a tight and thrilling contest. Additionally, adapting to our surroundings played a role in this, as our opponents were formidable with talented players. I believe that’s what enabled us to reach game five. In retrospect, I’m glad we came away with a win. It’s crucial to remember that not everyone is instantly skilled, and taking the time to adapt to the stage is an essential aspect for us.

How do you describe your games against JunJia?

One Person: I strongly feel he’s an exceptional player, but we haven’t faced each other too often. Today’s results only give us insight into their team’s skill level and the capabilities of their individual players, considering our limited history together.

In game three, you chose Zed for the first time on an international level. That’s quite daring! Can you share the reasons behind this choice and explain the strategic objective behind it?

The Zed pick we planned for during the LCK Regular season proved crucial in a best-of-five series, where options become limited as the games progress. We had been preparing this strategy for quite some time, and I aimed to win with it. Unfortunately, we lost. However, I know I can improve my performance with him in future matches.

T1 Oner: “I hope that we [Oner and BLG Beichuan] have a fun match together.”

“Looking at the two losses, what do you feel were the key issues or mistakes?”

I believe our struggles started with the initial draft and not having the ability to implement some desired in-game strategies. This, in part, contributed to our loss. As I’ve mentioned before, adapting to the stage was crucial, especially since the opposing team has a high skill ceiling, they have great potential, and they are also a strong team. I think this is what ultimately prevented us from performing at our best.

In your upcoming game, you’ll be facing off against BLG. Additionally, Beichuan is set to make his international debut. Given what we’ve observed so far, what are your thoughts on his performance? Moreover, how do you evaluate BLG’s performance at MSI up until now?

As a fan, here I am, gearing up for my encounter with Beichuan for the first time. Frankly, I’m yet to grasp his playing style thoroughly, but I’m eagerly looking forward to our game. Rather than harboring expectations, I simply wish for us to have an enjoyable match and, more importantly, secure a victory in this instance.

What team do you think will be the biggest threat at this MSI?

In my opinion, among the LPL teams and Gen.G from LCK, I find myself being the most vigilant. However, today’s performance by CFO and other teams has been remarkable, making it wise to view each of them as potential threats at this MSI tournament.

Canadian food and promises for an MSI victory

Have you had a chance to sample any Canadian cuisine during your stay, as some of the T1 fans I interacted with were curious about this?

One Team Member: It seems that due to jet lag, I haven’t been able to leave the hotel and explore outside. To be honest, I’ve mainly relied on room service for meals, so I can’t comment on Canadian cuisine just yet. However, I did have steak delivered to me.

“From what I understand, your T1 VALORANT team said they would go swimming if they won Stage 2. Does your team have any fun goals or promises like that for when you win MSI?”

To clarify, I never said I’d guarantee winning the MSI this time around. However, if we do manage to secure the championship, I truly believe that there’s nothing I can’t accomplish and achieve quite a bit more. My initial objective would be to emerge victorious!
