It was announced that T1 strongly disapproved of the unauthorized adoption of Faker’s famous “shh” gesture and likeness for a political campaign, and demanded that related posts be removed.
Statement Released: Condemning the Misuse of Prodigy Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok in a Political Campaign
A political figure exploited the renowned gamer, Faker, by incorporating his signature move, sharing his image, and tagging him in a since-removed post. The action is being criticized.
T1: Faker is not affiliated with any political campaign
Through updates on their official social platforms, the South Korean esports organization clarified the situation regarding Faker: he does not align with any political party, and they are actively working to remove posts that misuse his photograph and iconic stance without permission.

What was the political post?
Although Kim Moon-soo, a newly announced presidential candidate for South Korea’s conservative and right-wing People Power Party (PPP), wasn’t explicitly named by T1 themselves, their fans quickly recognized the association.
Two social media posts by the candidate caught the attention of T1 supporters. The first post contained a series of three images.

This post featured three images: a snapshot of Faker’s autograph, him adopting his signature “shh” gesture, and the candidate imitating this pose. In the caption, he also employed Faker’s well-known catchphrase, “I’ll take responsibility! It’s over, it’s over!” The initial hashtag is #Faker, which can be simplified to just #Faker.

In the second post, Kim adopts the same “Shh” gesture. Below you’ll find a translation of the accompanying text from Korean:
[Translation] “Hush, hush, don’t tell anyone our little secret.” – Kim
(This election) I’ll take responsibility. It’s over! It’s over!
The posts previously seen on Kim’s social media accounts are no longer accessible. Neither Kim nor the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) have made any official public response to T1’s declaration.
