SZA reveals her unexpected celebrity crush on legendary filmmaker in his EIGHTIES in new song on album Lana
As a dedicated follower of SZA’s music, I must say her latest album Lana has been quite a rollercoaster ride! The surprise confession about her celebrity crush, Martin Scorsese, truly took me by surprise. Now, I haven’t seen all of his movies yet, but I did catch Goodfellas once at a sleepover party in high school, and let me tell you, it wasn’t the pizza we ordered that left me feeling shaken up!
SZA revealed her surprising celebrity crush in one of her new tracks on her latest album release.
She admitted to harboring a fondness for an unanticipated personality from the entertainment world as she released the much-awaited, expanded version of her album.
On a Friday, Solána Imani Rowe, known as the singer-songwriter, unveiled the long-awaited, eagerly anticipated expanded version of her Grammy-winning 2022 album SOS.
The self-titled album by SZA, who is 35 years old, includes a track called ‘Scorsese Baby Daddy,’ which honors the esteemed film director Martin Scorsese, who is 82.
On the track, SZA expresses her struggles by saying, ‘I gather up all my troubles, then I ponder over them with a cigarette.’ Alternatively, she could have talked to her mother about it, but instead, she chooses to deal with it in another way.
The singer, who expressed her remorse over her past plastic surgeries last month, sang the lyrics: ‘Hooked on the theatrics, potential father of Scorsese.’
According to the song lyrics, she often dreams about finding herself in a situation reminiscent of an Oscar-winning film.
Yet, she failed to cite particular characters or mention the films such as Goodfellas, Taxi Driver, The Wolf of Wall Street, and Gangs of New York.
She did not mention any of Scorsese’s leading men by name, though the most notable ones are Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, Ray Liotta and Daniel Day-Lewis.
‘I would pretend to do my favorite man. He’d call me tasty,’ she sings in the song.
A woman, clearly upset, pondered aloud, “Perhaps I could manage, dear. Some day, I’ll grasp everything required to act as a graceful and dignified woman.
She sings about being in a tumultuous, emotionally intense romantic situation, hinting that she might want to start a family with someone who bears a likeness to one of Scorsese’s film characters.
SZA is 47 years younger than who has been married to his wife, Helen Morris, since 1999.
In reaction to her confession, fans have been buzzing with praise over the track.
Additionally, some social media users are discussing whether the filmmaker has listened to the song and how he might respond.
Scorsese and his wife share a 25-year-old daughter, named Francesca Scorsese, 25.
He has a total of three adult children from three separate marriages.
In his first marriage to Laraine Marie Brennan and his subsequent union with Julia Cameron, Martin Scorsese is a father to daughters Cathy Scorsese (57) and Domenica Cameron-Scorsese (48).
Fans have been clamoring in excitement after SZA finally released Lana two years after SOS.
Previously, she mentioned that she postponed the release intentionally, as she aimed to ensure her music was flawlessly polished.
She shared with Varity last year that she usually doesn’t complete tasks until the day prior to the deadline.
In a bid to create something gentle, as I had already expressed my intense emotions in the SOS track, I desired a smooth transition without much mental exertion. I was overjoyed to express words that carried no significant meaning, helping me escape the confines of my own thoughts.
She added: ‘But now it’s definitely turning into its own album. I guess I could drop another album randomly, because no one’s actually expecting that from me right now.’
