Down Under, Above The Clouds has made its debut in Melbourne by establishing its first outlet beyond Sydney. Located at the bustling crossroads of 80 Collins Street, the eye-catching, two-tier flagship store was crafted in partnership with a local design studio named Pattern.

Instead of demolishing and starting anew, the team opted to utilize the existing resources on site, reinventing the space through creative recycling. The outcome was a store that exudes purposefulness and a homey vibe, boasting a multi-textured, touchable atmosphere where rough textures blend seamlessly with polished finishes, and nothing goes unused.

In the heart of this space, I find myself drawn to the harmonious blend of contrasts. The raw, earthy texture of OSB walls is met with the soft, verdant carpeting beneath my feet, evoking a sense of both ruggedness and coziness. A splash of pastel-colored displays adds vibrancy to the otherwise neutral color scheme, offering a refreshing pop of brightness. The lighting design here truly shines: an elegant, icy blue rotunda serves as the focal point for the upper floor, casting a mesmerizing glow over the footwear display by night. With adjustable RGB lighting, the store transforms into a colorful spectacle after dark, adding a magical touch to my shopping experience.
