With Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried leading the cast, and Paul Feig at the helm, this film promises to be a masterpiece that will leave audiences on the edge of their seats.
The movie titled “The Housemaid,” featuring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried, is set to hit theaters in the year 2025, as officially announced.
In a twist of events, the story unfolds around a hard-pressed woman named Sweeney, who takes up employment as a domestic worker for an affluent pair, portrayed by Sasha Pieterse (Seyfried) and Brandon Sklenar. As she delves deeper into their lives, she uncovers some menacing family mysteries hidden within their household.
Variety has now reported that Lionsgate has booked a slot for Christmas Day in 2025.
In the cast, along with Sweeney, Seyfried, and Sklenar, we have Michele Morrone joining. Known for “Bridesmaids”, “Spy”, and “A Simple Favour”, Paul Feig is directing a screenplay penned by Rebecca Sonnenshine. Additionally, Sweeney, Seyfried, and Feig are taking on the role of executive producers.
Erin Westerman from Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group expressed that a significant aspect of enjoyment in the book comes from visualizing the characters while reading, and she believes Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried would be ideal choices for Millie and Nina when it gets adapted to film.
We’re excited to collaborate with Paul Feig again, whom we previously worked with on ‘A Simple Favour’ and the subsequent sequel. He has a strong history of crafting narratives featuring compelling female characters.

Sweeney, fresh from roles in “Anyone But You” and “Immaculate”, shared her excitement for an upcoming project by posting a playful Instagram video, captioned: “Tell me about yourself, Millie #TheMaidInTheHouse – coming soon!”, while she could be seen flipping through the novel on camera.
The Housemaid is scheduled to be released on December 25, 2025.
