Sydney Sweeney’s Gritty Psychological Drama Series Sets New HBO Record Ahead Of Long-Awaited Return This Month

Just before the new season of HBO’s Euphoria premieres, stars Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney have helped the show achieve a new milestone.

The new trailer for Euphoria season 3 quickly became the most-watched trailer for any returning HBO or HBO Max series. Released on March 30th, it garnered 157 million views in just 48 hours, as reported by Deadline.

The new trailer broke the previous view record, exceeding the 100 million views earned by the initial trailer for Euphoria season 3 released in January.

The show’s trailers weren’t the only thing attracting a lot of attention – the show itself quickly became much more popular. Viewership grew dramatically from the first season finale, which had a little over 500,000 viewers, to the second season finale, which drew in a peak of 6.6 million viewers three years later.

In addition to Zendaya, who has received two Emmys and a Golden Globe for her work on the show, and Sydney Sweeney, Euphoria’s cast includes Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow, and the late Eric Dane.

Euphoria was created by Sam Levinson, who also executive produces the show alongside Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Kevin Turen, Ravi Nandan, Adel “Future” Nur, Ron Leshem, Daphna Levin, Hadas Mozes Lichtenstein, Gary Lennon, Mirit Toovi, Tmira Yardeni, Yoram Mokadi, Jim Kleverweis, Will Greenfield, Ashley Levinson, and Sara E. White.

Since the show premiered in 2019, both Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney have seen their careers take off. Zendaya had already gained recognition in Spider-Man: Homecoming and continued playing MJ in Far From Home and No Way Home. She’s also starred in the films Dune, Dune: Part Two, and Challengers.

The acclaimed actress has a packed year ahead in 2026. Fans can expect to see her in the return of Euphoria, as well as several new films: The Drama (April 3), The Odyssey (July 17), Spider-Man: Brand New Day (July 31), and Dune: Part Three (December 18).

Following the success of Euphoria, Sweeney quickly starred in another popular HBO show, The White Lotus. She’s also appeared in several films, including Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Reality, Madame Web, and Christy.

Sydney Sweeney’s latest movie, The Housemaid, starring Amanda Seyfried, was a big success, earning $399 million in theaters. It also received positive reviews, with a 73% ‘Fresh’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Sweeney is set to reprise her role in the sequel, The Housemaid’s Secret, which will be released in December 2027.

Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney will soon reunite on screen in the highly anticipated third season of Euphoria. The new season, teased by a hugely popular trailer, will follow Rue Bennett (Zendaya) as she faces questioning from DEA agents, while the characters navigate life after high school.

Okay, so everyone’s buzzing about the next season, and while HBO hasn’t said it officially, all signs point to this eight-episode run being the end. As a huge fan, it’s a little bittersweet, but I’m bracing myself for what feels like a final goodbye.

Euphoria season 3 premieres Sunday, April 12 at 9 p.m. EDT on HBO and HBO Max.
