Sydney Sweeney slams ‘fake’ Hollywood grandstanding on ‘women empowering other women’
As a lifestyle expert with decades of experience in the entertainment industry, I must say that Sydney Sweeney’s words resonate deeply with me. Having witnessed the inner workings of Hollywood firsthand, I can attest to the fact that the facade of women empowering other women often crumbles under scrutiny.
Sydney Sweeney has critically spoken out against the alleged empty gestures of Hollywood regarding ’empowerment of women by women’, stating bluntly: ‘Nothing of this sort is taking place.’
As a committed admirer, I can’t help but acknowledge that at the age of 27, this individual has truly captured the limelight with their captivating performances in the series Euphoria and The White Lotus. Now, they’ve become a nationwide heartthrob, leaving quite an impression on many.
Gosh, let me tell you, last year I absolutely lost myself in the delightful romantic comedy “Anyone But You,” where none other than the radiant Sydney herself and the charismatic Glen Powell graced our screens! And here’s a fun fact: Sydney wasn’t just an actress on this production, oh no, she was also an executive producer. That’s right, she had a hand in shaping every scene and moment that made this movie so special for me!
Currently, she’s gracing the cover alongside esteemed stars such as Nicole Kidman, Zoe Saldana, and her Euphoria collaborator Zendaya for the Vanity Fair Hollywood Issue.
She was scathing in her interview about the ‘successful’ women in showbiz who ‘bash and discredit’ the ‘younger’ female ‘talent’ coming up behind them.
Sydney expressed her disappointment at observing women undermining one another, particularly when accomplished women in their respective fields witness the dedication of younger talents striving to realize their aspirations. Instead of offering support, these successful women attempt to belittle and discredit the work of these up-and-coming individuals.
The character portrayed in Madame Web expressed frustration by stating, ‘In this entire industry, people often claim it’s about women empowering each other. However, I don’t see that happening. It all seems superficial and a mask for the negative things they say about others when they think no one is listening.’
She proposed an idea suggesting that throughout our upbringing, there’s been a widespread belief instilled in us – a problem that spans generations – that only one woman should reach the pinnacle of success. This belief is supported by numerous studies and varying opinions on the subject.
Speaking as a devoted admirer, let me share this: Among all the women out there, there’s one who holds the key to captivating him. There’s one extraordinary lady who seems capable of assuming any role or identity, if you catch my drift.
Instead of competing or attempting to bring another woman down, they seem more inclined towards conflict. It’s perplexing as I aim for uplifting others and strive to do my best. I can’t understand why I’m being targeted instead.
Sydney’s forthcoming venture entails creating a fresh cinematic adaptation of the character Barbarella, who was once portrayed on screen by Jane Fonda in a previous film.
Barbarella, initially conceived as a French graphic novel, later evolved into a 1968 science fiction film helmed by Roger Vadim, who was at the time married to Jane.
In this hilarious film, the protagonist, Barbarella, encounters a deranged scientist who possesses a device known as the ‘Overindulgent Apparatus’. This apparatus leads to fatal outcomes through intense pleasure or climax.
Word has spread by late 2022 that a fresh Barbarella film is under development, featuring Sydney as the primary actress.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jane herself has admitted that she is making an effort ‘not to’ focus on the forthcoming movie because she is concerned about how it will turn out.
She suggested that, if the theme had been treated differently, the film made in 1968 by her former spouse could have represented a strong feminist perspective.
Originally, as I was developing into an activist and feminist, my perspective on the Barbarella movie wasn’t favorable when it initially released, considering it lacked political correctness. However, over the years, I’ve come to value it more because it isn’t politically correct in a contemporary sense.
